Sample sized bottles and try various vendors and profiles. I agree sometimes online juice needs steeping and breathing.
I have found everyone's tongue is different. And, while it can be easy to presume that "commercial" eliquid will be better, well that isn't always the case. It's pretty rare for me to NOT do something to improve my commercial liquids, even if it's a dilution. After DIY for a while, most commercial flavorings taste harsh, over chemically, or too sweet, like sickly sweet. It all depends.
There is no reason to think a commercial juice outfitter can do better than DIY. They are using for the most part the SAME ingredients as DIY juice makers. If you don't wind up finding commercial liquids you like (and sometimes, IMO, the less expensive brands can be more to my taste) it may wind up being a good reason to return to DIY and hone your skills a little more and etc. Just a thought. Most successful DIY ers approach it very systematically (whatever their system is) and kind of INHALE the information on the DIY board, ask questions, keep notes, and etc. To me it's worth it, (not only for cost) but also being self sufficient, and the pleasure of knowing I can make juices that satisfy MY palate. It's worth the work investment..
But going in with the mindset "I can't do as well as or better than commercial elqiuids" may hamper progress.
Good luck with whatever route you wind up going. I doubt my DIY creations would win any awards (IDK) but they are good enough for me and that is what matters.
