First experiences vaping

Hi all! Trying to get a few introductory posts in so I can ask some real questions.
First, I'll say I'm new to committing to vaping. I've tried a pull from my sister's mod, it was rum and coke, I hated it. I've had a few e cigs, the little metal ones where the end lights up, also not a permanent substitute, though it lasted a while.
I've recently started working at a new job and about half of the people on "smoke breaks" are vapers. I've since purchased a vape pen from a Co worker who ended up not liking it.
It's been nothing but trouble. First, it seemed the battery was no good, so I bought new. Turns out it was fine but wasn't getting a charge. Then my first burnt coil. Icky! When replaced, it wasn't screwed in properly, so it leaked. So more issues with the battery. Finally, I watched some online videos and I cleaned my set up, carefully screwed in my coil and primed it properly, and I was satisfied. Problem being, I still have issues with the pen leaking, it seems that when I fill it, the o rings are displaced and it may or may not leak. Always a crap shoot.
I've since ordered so much vape stuff (waiting on delivery for much of it) but I am getting discouraged about so many aspects. I like the pen, when it works. But it's an emotional Rollercoaster getting started without that elusive mentor....it doesn't help that I'm unsure of what pen I own as things go over my head quite quickly. Add far as I know it's a clearimizer, or something like it (has a little window) with a variable voltage battery from 3.3 to 4.8. My spare is just a basic 900mah. No adjustments. It takes a 1.8 ohm atty (at least that's what's in it).
recently purchased a vv pen on ebay and 2 eleaf with starre tank .25ohm coils that are yet to be delivered. Honestly, if the pen worked, I'd be happy with it.

Welcome! People will start giving you some great advice soon. You can post a picture of your setup and someone will know what it is. I think the .25 coils you bought may be too much for a VV pen style. You might need a more serious mod. Personally, I have never vaped anything that low, but a lot of folks here do.

Congrats on trying to make the switch!

Hi @SublimelyOblivious , I don't know of any VV pens that can run the .25 ohm coils. You're going to need a better power source. ECF has many vendors subscribed who run adds and have coupons quite often. You might check here for a deal there's been a lot of sales for Fathers Day:

DEALS and STEALS - Deals and Steals | E-Cigarette Forum (go to last couple pages)
FORUM SUPPLIERS - ECF Forum Suppliers | E-Cigarette Forum
COUPONS - Stores - ECF E-Cigarette Coupons

The iStick 50W can run the .2 coils, the 30W only runs coils down to .4. Going from a VV stick to a sub ohm tank is quite a leap and I wouldn't suggest it. I usually recommend the iStick 30W and an Aspire Nautilus Mini for this level of vaper to upgrade to. The Nautilus was my game changer when I quit the cigs. I'd return the tanks you bought if possible or get a more powerful mod. But the thing about the sub ohm tanks is they do guzzle the juice, you'll have to greatly reduce the nicotine level in any juice you have and they are lung hitters. The Nautilus is a mouth to lung (like a cig). So you can return the tanks, set them aside or sell them, or buy a powerful mod battery, or get a proper quality vape for getting off the cigs like the iStick and Nautilus.

Good luck in your vape journey.

To add to what @Sir2fyablyNutz wrote:

0.25 is low even compared to a sub-ohm premade coil head.

While the iStick 50W on paper can use a 0.25 coil, I would suggest a >=100W device to use it properly. At 4.2V and 0.25R you need ~70.56W.

I don't think any of the pen style batteries even approach 10W.

Oh. Clarification is in order!
Original pen, with variable voltage battery and non variable. uses 1.8ohm coil, unknown brand. It had been called a "click" by one friend. Had no branding to know for sure. Works when it's not leaking and has a good coil:

(Picture too large. Will post when I figure it out)

On the way: eleaf battery, starre tank with .25 ohm coil. This one is used by friends and was recommended at the local vape shop. Purchased 2 hoping my husband will make the switch.
Also on the way: a new pen-type variable voltage. Will have to look up specs for more info.

They didn't give you the best advice then. For a 0.25 ohm coil @ 4.2V you need >=70W of power, you're not even half way there. While it will still fire, it won't be that great. They should have advised you to buy the 0.5 ohm coils, at least.

You just won't have enough power to bring up the voltage to a point where the coils will vaporize the juice well enough.

Just curious, are the people at your work using pen styled ecigs or the more substantial robust ones you see posted here?
Both! The ladies tend to prefer pen types, a few tech guys have larger box mods. We've talked a little, I've tried to pick their brains about theirs so I had an idea going in.

Actually, it was supposed to have both a .25 ohm and .5 ohm with extra glass cylinder for each. They both had only .25 ohm coils. That's what I get with inexperience and online shopping. I suppose I should get a few .5 then?

To clarify this, the tanks arrived yesterday, but waiting on e leaf to put together. ...

Yeah, but even a 0.5 coil won't be optimal on your device. You will be firing at max and still missing some watts to get the most out of it. At this point since you already ordered you're in a tough spot. The cheapest solution would be to get the 0.5 coils.

It'll work and still be an improvement over what you have though.

Yes, you'll definitely want the 0.5 ohm coils. I'm not familiar with the Starre tank but I'm sure others here are.

So I'm way off the mark? Crazy, that's exactly the set up the vape shop was selling me last week. Of course, the starre tank description was bad as I thought I was getting both ohm levels and did not (I now have (4) x.25).[eBay]
sounds like I really messed up. Maybe my friend will want the .25's and can help me get the correct coils for my wattage/ battery. Not sure what to make of it, as I said, it goes over my head quite quickly.
I just wanted an upgrade from the pen and some freedom from the leaks and hopefully fewer burned coils. I may have the opposite!
