I keep seeing people recommend using an adapter to protect the threads, and maybe it will, but I've tried two adapters (510-510/ego and airflow controller) and they both pushed my Vamo V2 center pin down. I stopped using the adapters, tighten my tanks until they won't turn anymore, and I haven't been having any issues. I've also noticed a good bit of the people recommending the adapters add "I repeatedly spiked my Vamo off the concrete and ruined the threads" or something similar.

Yep.... I haven't thrown an adapter on my V3 (nor do i think I will at this point). Looking through the threads related to the problems with the center pin, almost everyone seems to be using an adapter. Granted, on some of the V2s, its really your only option if you want to run an ego threaded clearo, so it might be a necessary evil. But on the V3, at least, it would only be there to save the threads from wear and tear. Since there is not much you can do if you bork the threads, repairing the pin gasket might be a better choice..

But I don't swap out devices much, and thread things on carefully... so hopefully those threads last.

It's a shame you paid so much for it, never, ever buy batteries from American vendors, just get them from the source. Fasttech.com is probably the cheapest that you'll find online. I know that it seems to be a good thing, but you're just overpaying by a lot.

I bought my Nitecore i4 and Panasonic 18650 batteries (including shipping) from a US vendor for cheaper than FastTech. And I got them in 3 days. Bought from Amazon. The Nitecore i4's price went up since I bought it though.

You do have a point! US vendors buy it from places like Fasttech, and then turn around and list it on THEIR website.

I just read all the way back, $36 for a v3? I might have to give it a go again. I managed to kill two vamo's fairly quickly. One I just dropped one time too many, I'm clumsy. The other one I over tightened a drunker tank on and trashed (pushed in way to far) the 510 connector. I say they are fragile, but I think I'm kinda hard on stuff I carry all the time. Still I thought the v2 was a nice bit o kit, might just have to spring for a v3 at that price! It's not gonna replace my go to device, but its a lot of features/device for the money as a backup, I can certainly see why they are so popular.

If you still have your v2 with the pushed in ring, it's super easy to fix. Basically, pull out the (old) white insulator from around the pin and replace it with a #60 o-ring (available at any hardware store).
