So, I finally got my Odins (only one I can use until I get my new mod which I have yet to order hehe.)

Got everything up and running, one coil is igniting a bit slower than the other side but I said screw it and wicked it and am smoking it. I just recently went down from 1.0 to .5 in nicotine.

First hit made my toes curl. I started coughing up a lung and swiftly diluted the juice I recently made with around 5ml of VG. It's hitting quite a bit better now and man this thing throws out VAPOR.

Do you guys think the build could be contributing to the "harshness"?

Edit; i'm pretty lightheaded now. I use to chain vape my .9-1.1 RM2 all day long, I dunno if I could chain vape this bad boy!

The coils don't heat evenly is problem #1. Tell us your build, how many wraps, what diameter, what wire and what resistance it is.

Ensure all posts are tight and that both coils heat from the inside out

Pics will work great, I've been using an Odin for a long time up until a day ago.

Side note, you seem to be typing how someone would describe an ohm with your nic level. It's usually 0,3,6,12,18,24,30,36mg nic level.

I second tmel ^^

Did you mean 0.5 ohms? If so, I don't feel 0.5 ohms is a harsh vape to me. Also make sure your coils are the same distance from the positive post on both sides. I was using an Odin everyday on my Reo and on my IPV3. I have both versions of the Odin until I got my Nuppin then I've been using that.

Yeah I figured it would be the coils that would be a problem. Build came out to .62 ohms, dual coil. 28 guage around the 2mm (I think that's what it is) wire gizmo. Posts are tight, heat from the inside out, no hot legs. Sorry about the nic levels. That's what the B&M refer to them as (.3 .6 1.2 1.8 etc.) I mix my own so I usually go in 0, .25, .5, 1.0, 1.5 (0, 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, 15mg) to make mixing a bit easier (makes the ml I need of individual things even.) One coil may also be closer to the air slot than the other as well.

Side note; After mixing in the VG it has made it a much, MUCH better vape. I know for a fact i'll be dropping the nic to 2.5mg after this.

Odins have basically ruined me for other attys... they kicked all the RM2s off of my Reos. I have no urge to try anything else simply because they match my vaping style perfectly.

Lately, I have been digging 2 27ga 8 wrap coils that net out about .4 ohms. While it does drink through some juice I really enjoy it. If you can post some pics some of us may see something in your build that you aren't noticing.

Super X has inspired me and I decided to repurpose our digital video cam and might shoot a video of how I build my Odin. Not to try and outdo Russ (this could not be done) but just for S & G more than anything else.

Enjoy your Odin...let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Geo

I'd suggest maybe trying to dial in the vape using a single coil - get used to coil placement, air flow, inhale style, etc. It's a big change from the RM2 and will take some adjustment. This would also render the juice variable(s) largely moot as it would mean replicating your RM2 experience in an Odin context.

Once you get to know this bad boy using a single, then build duals using what you learned from the experimentation. This stepping process would allow you to introduce juice variables and also acclimatize you to vaping on a 22mm vapor beast.

I actually rebuilt the Odin the very next morning after making this post. I love it. Built dual coils at 7 wraps with 28 guage. They light up equally with each other. I also put the coils closer to the slots and made them parallel instead of slanted. Made 2 juices 1 that is my all time favorite juice ever (fruit stripe gum from flavor west mixed at 10% in a 2mg (dropped it from 10mg) nicotine solution. This rda is AMAZING. When I took the first pull off of fruit stripe gum I was jumping up and down from the excitement. SOOOO much flavor and SOOOO much vapor. Vaping on watermelon blueberry with the odin as we speak. I love this thing and it's changed vaping totally for me.

coil height is a key factor with the Odin atty. even more so than others I have used.

I vape at.5 ohms and if the coil is even a tad to high, the vape it is intense. lower the coil and the vape becomes so nice a smooth.

Yes, this. If you're running horizontal coils, you're tendency is going to be to keep the coils a tad high for ease of rewicking. Resist that if you can.

Also, backing them off from the air slots a tad will help with leaking (which, I gotta say, these things do).

Juice-specifics become super important once you start sub-ohming. For super-sub-ohming, as in lower than 0.4Ω or so, most people aren't comfortable with more than 20% PG. As in, 80/20 VG/PG. For example, I vape 95/5 VG/PG. As for nicotine, I, personally, could probably vape around 8mg (or 0.8%, in your case) nicotine at 1.0Ω with no issues. Since my coils are rarely above 0.18Ω, however, I have trouble with more than 2mg (or 0.2%) nicotine. Play around with your juice, coils, and airflow. These are the primary factors that attribute to an enjoyable and comfortable vape.

I dropped from 1 Ohm to 0.5 using duals and 28 gauge wire. I will be diluting my 10 mg by one-half; there seems a rather large difference in nicotine delivery when reducing Ohms. I like the 0.5, it took me forever to go from 1.5 down to 1 and long to down further - I was leery. But, I get the idea now. Following Papa's advice on coil placement seems spot on to me, moving the coil down made a difference. As to wick changing, with the coils down, RedyXWick seems even a better buy to avoid the need for frequent wick changes altogether.

Mine is a clone but damn if it doesn't look good on my black wrinkle. Black Reo, black Odin, black carbon fiber drip tip (driptipdesignz) and the black delrin button cover. Super stealthy.

Anyway, I'm running a .34 ohm build I believe, I didn't clock it after wicking and fiddling with it, but before pulsing and such it was reading .34. It's probably a .37, but it's a dual 7 wrap 26 gauge micro around a 2mm bit, relatively small coil. Wicked it up with koh gen do and it's doing fantastic. My first build was identical to this one, but it was around a 2.5mm bit and read .43. Didn't have the heat I was looking for, and I used way too much cotton and it was a little touchy as far as oversquonking. Juice just poured out those air holes lol. This one has the coils backed away from the air holes a bit.

I really wanted an authentic, but this was a true case where lack of supply drove me to settle for a clone. That said, I couldn't be happier with the black finish on this thing, and it just looks incredible to me

I may like the color but in the words of John Pinette "Nay, Nay, Nay" to that clone. I mean even the logo was copied! Give me a break or better yet how about giving Lokilab a break. Nay, Nay, Nay. :2c:

I kind of agree with this but,,, having been on the waiting list for so long, and, really wanting to try the Odin, I can hardly blame someone for getting the clone while waiting for the real thing. Have not broke down and tried a clone, still waiting and it has been months.

I picked up a RSM mod on the classifieds that came with a CH modded black odin clone. I can definitely tell the difference between it and my authentics. Vape performance is the same as far as I can tell, but the authentics have more metal to them, the topcaps are significantly thicker than the clone.
