I got my REO's from Rob last week and my IMR AW 1600 batteries came in. I made a 1.1 ohm 28 gauge single coil threaded with RxW to go on my BF Odin. Cut the inverted V, filled with my 80/20 unflavored liquid, Deoxit Golded the baby, put the battery in, squonked and dropped some liquid on the wick/coil and tried to fire her up. Nothing

I took everything off and put the Odin on my IPV3 and it fired up fine...I put it on the 2nd REO I ordered from Rob and that one worked great...

Any thoughts on what might be wrong with my first REO? Anything I haven't tried that you could suggest?

I've had this problem before with 2 different atty's. On each, I took a screwdriver and backed out the 510 post on each and then they worked. I had to do this on my Nuppin and Mephisto. ....might work.

Okay, that worked!! Thank you but the problem is that I have to back it out so much I have a gap between the atty and the REO. I did it after Rattler posted but didn't think it needed to backed out so much. Will there be any issues with the gap. See below:

Thanks, I forgot to add that I used the included the Allen key and adjusted it up a bit and still nothing...Should I have done anything different?

That sounds right but maybe try and adjust it way out to ensure there is good contact just to eliminate it as an issue. I do not have a new 510 but I believe that even if the pin on the atty is recessed you should be able to get contact with the new 510. I could be wrong on this point since I have not ever seen or played with one but it is still suspect to me.

Do you have another atty that you could try on the REO? It is not necessary to get a built coil on it just take a piece of wire and put in the holes and do a quick test fire.

This is the new 510 connection?
Now that the atty pin is farther out, maybe you can adjust that back down and get her flush but still make a connection?
I don't have one with the new 510 (yet), but I HATE "gap" and gee - with the pin and connector both adjustable, you should be able to get a flush topper every time!

Another who would have backed the adj 510 screw in the Reo out further, before readjusting the atty's 510... and kept trying as needed until it made contact with the atty's 510. There wouldn't be the gap between the atty/Reo if the Reos screw did make contact with the atty screwed in without also adjusting the atty.

I have a fairly new LP with the first run adjustable 510 where the screws were too loose (that I haven't sent back for the 2nd run adj 510 yet)... and its a PITA to find the sweet spot as the screw follows the atty when screwing it in or out. My other new LP does have the updated adj 510, it works better, but still takes trial and error to find the right spot as well.

Thank you for the help...

This is the new 510 and I only adjusted the pin in the REO...I have been told and am phobic about adjusting the attys pin...I might wait for another atty to come in and try it on my Black Beauty...I have the Derringers, Freakshow Mini and Magma coming in the near future...Until then the Odin will sit on my Snow White REO and vaping phenomenally!!!

Just to complete the feedback, the gap (should you not be able to remove it) should only be an aesthetic issue.

Thank you for closing the feedback loop :toast: I can handle the overhang with the larger attys but the gap there is hard for me to deal with. I'm worried that might be a spot that juice could leak from.

It is possible that a very small amount of juice will leak from over sqounking. However, the old 510's all had gaps like this, and as far as I am aware most never have issues with leakage.

I never left the gap on the non-adjustable 510 REO's. I used orings to fill the gap. I would use an oring that was a tad bit larger than the gap and then tighten down against it. This provided a good seal, kept the atty stable in case of a knock over or drop and allowed me to adjust the air hole position where I wanted it.

I am fairly sure you can get a better fit by adjusting the 510 "in" using small increments now that you have contact. It will take a few attempts but once it is set for that atty it will not have to be adjusted again unless you change the atty.

The other option is to do what you have stated and just wait on another atty that will be married to the REO.
