I agree with dragonbone you can smoke anywhere in a bar or restaurant but I recommend try not to smoke on the street. I have a member on my forum who arrested by police recently and had to take urine tests because an officer suspect his PV is using it for illegal drugs. He also told that his PV and liquid is confiscated even results are clean.

I'm saying you are fine to smoke ecig in Japan. I smoke mine at my office. To avoid trouble, just be careful when you smoke on the street.

What?? Oh my goodness! Where was that? In Tokyo? I often stand outside the station next to the police box and vape. Also most of the omowari-san's who patrol the koen near my house, have seen me vaping while taking my dog for midnight walkies. They have never said anything.

Hi guys! Been off for a long hibernation. Anyway, I also vape where ever I feel like vaping. Most of the times, smokers look at me differently, but I don't care as long as I do not disturb them.
You guys are also right when vaping discreetly in public places and do a vapeaton on smoking areas...
Just to be safe, when in Rome.... Ah! You know what comes next!

I have been in the Yokohama/Yokosuka area since Sept. I haven't had any problems vaping but I usually use the "Golden Rule" be careful

Hi Tia,
I have gotten a shipment of over 100, 10ml bottles and 30ml bottles before, so I am not sure that they will limit you, but they will probably charge a Customs fee for a large shipment.

Well yes and no. You can have it, you can order it from overseas, but you can't sell nicotine liquid in Japan. Customs fees depend on the price of the item and what type. I have not paid the fee yet for eliquid (maybe because you can't sell it here) but I know that they will occasionally add it to a shipment. Other things I have paid between 1,000 yen and 3,000 yen ($10- $30 usd)

So its allowed in but it can't be sold while is here, that seems to be the main thing.

I didn't realize this thread was so long when I started, so first of all...my apologies but I didn't read all of it I am stationed in Atsugi-kichi, about a 40 minute train ride from Tokyo.
