Todays challenge was to put into practice what I'd learnt on this forum, supplemented with some excellent re-build vids on you-tube - namely rebuilding my first kanger coil. With a toolkit of:-

2 needles
2mm ekowool
32awg kanthal
Scissors
Mini Pliers
mod to check resistance

…and the result. 2ohm build and massive (and I really mean massive) clouds. Mega result. :2cool:

I can't believe how easy it is really and the vape seems better than with the stock coils. Didn't take long and the trickiest bit was trimming the loose ends of ekowool. That stuff really frays soooo easily.

Well chuffed, so time for a :vapor::vapor::vapor:

I was surprised too at how easy it was, and how much better a properly rebuilt coil is next to the stock coils. Literally takes me 2 minutes to rebuild one now. I didn't like being at the mercy of Kangertech quality control.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess I've been ok with the most of the stock coils I've used bar one or two….and those were really bad. Constant flooding leading to the onset of frustrated vaper syndrome.

Happy to have learnt the rebuild methodology.

Yes, there is a slight learning curve. My first few were shorted out, but got the hang of it. I'm using cotton wicking material as it is much easier to poke thru the tiny coil than other stuff and I started using another short piece of wick on top of the coil as a flavor wick and since it comes out thru the slots on the coil head it helps keep the juice from flooding the coil. As mentioned above, you can build them abetter than the originals with a little practice and patience...not to mention the the cost of Kanthal and wicking material make each rebuild literally a few cents!

Sounds great... Adding my .02 so I can come back and get your supply list down the road when I'm ready to order... Any recommendations on where to get the supplies?

I'm in England, but the Ekowool and kanthal came from Cloud9Vaping - a UK vendor. The rest from any hardware store. They're readily available (Kanthal and Ekowool) your side of the pond too. Good luck with giving it a try.

Temco sells Kathal A1 for about $7 for 100ft.
Organic cotton is $3 for a big bag at walgreens
After that, all you need is a pair of nail clippers and something to wrap on, I use a paper clip
If you want to compress your coils, you need a pair of flathead tweezers, and a torch lighter.
