No mech mod will blow your face off if you know what you're doing and use it properly. All of them will blow your face off if you don't. That said, stay away from "faux hybrid" mechs, at least at first and until you know exactly what you are doing. Those are the ones where the 510 positive pin directly contacts the battery, like the SMPL and many others. You can spend as much money on a mech as you want. With some of them, you're paying for quality; with others you're paying for brand name. You can buy a quality clone for 10 bucks if you'll wait for shipping from China. In fact, for people who are just starting, I recommend a Nemesis clone. It's hard to beat a Nemi. That said, you can also get some authentic mechs under 50 bucks easily; quality goods, but not fancy. I'd look at a
smok Magneto or a Wotofo Phantom. Double the money will buy a Council of Vapor Kindred, and a bit over a Franklin will buy a Poldiac or Nanos from Metal Madness Vapors (new old stock, they're not in production right now with Greece's economic troubles and getting hard to find.) If you've got a buck and a half to throw at it,
Fakirsmods is having a heckuva sale. You can buy a FX22 mod (18650 battery) and a Troy 2 atomizer combo for that price. (The Troy, BTW is a
true hybrid atomizer; the atty screws into the top of the mod tube, there's no 510 connection at all in that config, although the atty also has an adapter plate so you can use it on a 510 mod, and the mod has a top cap so you can use a 510 atty.) I can't afford one of those this month, but if I could, I'd have already ordered
