First Mech Mod! Some suggestions? (clones)

Hey guys! Any help would be very appreciated in finding me a decent mechanical clone that will be user friendly and good to great quality. I've been vaping for a little over a month, but I've done a lot of research on builds and things, and also have a good bit of knowledge in electronics. I'm after a clone and not authentic as it better fits my price range, and I thought it'd be smarter to go cheap as it's my first rodeo (should there be any mistakes). When i have a better understanding and much more practice I will absolutely buy authentic if I feel it's a necessary move. I've been looking at Tobecco, Infinite, and SXK mostly. I do not think copper would be best for my first, unless it's stainless plated on the outside. I like the Stingray X, Penny, FUhattan, or the like. I have an eye for a fairly plain looking mod, a straight tube mod with flush sides and no trimmed parts that are wider than the rest, probably 22m in width (top to bottom). Going to use a kayfun Lite clone or Russian 91 at first, then move to a Memphisto/Magma/Plume Veil/Tug Boat or even a Veritas if i'm up for it. I don't think I'll like the genesis style attys just from what I can tell. I am all ears for any suggestions, concerns, whatever you feel is appropriate for my style! Thanks a lot for taking a look!

I would get something like a stainless panzer or launcher even though they're ugly as sin. Why? They're indestructible stainless steel mods that are noob friendly. For $15 to $25 you can cut your teeth on mechs.

After using that one, you will have a much better idea of what features you want in your next mod and you'll have old reliable around as a backup / beater.

I know you said that you like the solid tube mods but, I recommend the EHPro Cronus clone. It's one of the best mech clones that I've used. It's a telescoping mech, all the threads are buttery smooth, the switch throw is amazingly smooth, and it has low voltage drop. IMG_0544_edited.jpg

I agree with Mayhem. A cheap EHPro tube is a great choice to get your feet wet. My first mech mod was an EHPro Sentinel Clone, which is available at madvapes for 20 bucks. They also have a kit for thirty that includes a charger, a couple EFest 18500 V1 batteries, a charger, and a couple of tanks.

Have you done your homework on battery safety, ohm's law and amp draw? Do you have an ohm reader & DMM to check your builds and battery voltage?

I have done lots of homework in all vaping categories =D I plan to buy an ohms reader and DMM along with my mech all in one go! I have a B&M fairly close by for anything I cant find online. Also they are very friendly and I'm sure they would happily help with any advice I need. I will absolutely not indulge into mechs and rebuilding until I am 100% certain that I am approaching with all safety measures and regulations right there with me! Thanks Susan! (btw your cat is very cute!)

EDIT : Just found a decent DMM in the closet! I guess my roommate bought it a year or so back, should hold up the job!

for me.. it was hard to beat a hcigar nemesis clone. butter smooth threads, very adjustable to fit different battery types and toppers. love it. just got a launcher v2, and that thing isn't too shabby. adjusts to fit just about anything and it is a very sturdy device. not going to win any beauty contests.. but thats not the point w/ a starter mech. it does what it needs to do well.

the launcher was about 20 bucks and came w/ a protank2 and an 18650 batt (one not good for sub ohming).. the hcigar nemesis i got cheap on clearance (22$) but can be found for 30 or under pretty easily.

If you go fishing on Fasttech, you'll find lots of great clones for cheap. You'll have to dig deep for them though.
My suggestions?
Copper 4nine clone
Brass m16 clone
I have both of these, and they're solid. The 4nine is a bit maintenance-intensive, but hits like a train, while the m16 hits like a truck.
I'm still going to go out on a limb here and say don't get the Nemesis unless you enjoy dealing with really small parts that love to get lost.

not to derail the OP, but what parts on a nemesis love to get lost for you? it seems to be a device that functions well w/ very little that can go wrong. my locking switch has gotten stuck a few times.. thats the worst ive experienced.. and i lose everything. i guess you could lose the bottom and top silver plated connectors.. but i dont really ever take mine out. when assembled correctly they never fall out or cause any issue to me in 3 months of solid continuous use (my everyday mod and only one i use)

for your first mech i would go for a cheap clone off Fasttech. the first mech i bought off there was a copper nemesis, it works great. the only fault i found was that it was copper plated and the plating on the connections were starting to wear away. other than that its been an absolute champ in hitting hard with no problems.

as for an rda. i also bought the gold Plume Veil off FT. so far it hasnt had any problem at all. real easy to build on and the airflow design on it is some ground breaking s*** as far as rda's go.

i dont know why people knock fasttech so much to be honest. yeah sure its cheap china crap but there are really minimal differences between FT and real authentics they work as well if not slightly not as good as the real deal. $25 for a mech as your first mech is really a no brainer and there is a huge range of mechs on FT to choose from.

I've looked at fasttech a lil, i guess the only thing keeping me away is the shipping time... If I'm up for it I'll order from there, we'll see, thanks for the reply!
