First mech: You Chi clone, Magneto, or K100/101?

anyone saying the chi clone hits harder than the real chi is out of their minds...I have both and the clone does hit well. but after a week on the clone straight, i went back to my king for a couple days, then back on the chi clone for a couple days, then back to the real chi, then clone for a few days, and back to my nemesis - there is a palpable difference in strength n vapor production as compared to my other non-clone mods.

but the clone does hit well, better than my old K100...if you were local to me, I'd sell you mine for $50 (what I got it for)...

I do not believe there is a 'Magneto Clone'. It's SmokTech's own device with a magnetic firing button rather than spring loaded. I am a noob myself, but from my understanding the floating pin helps with getting all att's flush on the top of the device. You are able to adjust it up or down to make sure the atty/carto is flat on top of the device.

You can get the Magneto at a few online vendors, TriangleVape seems to be the most popular/economical.
I just looked it up... $40-$50, can anyone else chime in on it? After my experience with smoktech cartomizers I kind of wanted to stay away but maybe its worth it?
What's your guys thoughts on both the Stainless Private Clone (private v2 clone) and/or the Sentinel Clone? I could actually get BOTH of these for the price of 1 Chi You clone...
I was looking at this as well... but I run 18350 batteries most the time and there is no vent holes for it in this mode... still thinking about getting it but with the possibilty of having to drill my own vent holes I'm thinking

Yea, all I ahve are AW IMR 18650's, so i'd be good. Not to mention I work in a high precision machine shop lol. I run a CNC EDM and have access to all the mills, lathes, grinders etc. I actually want to try and make my own mod here soon. I even have a polisher here at the shop and could high shine, or do any kind of tricky polishing i'd want done to my mods.

I just got a Magneto in and I love the thing.

Build quality, for mass produced 'clone' mech is very good, feels solid. I got the logo version and i quite like it. Threads arent butter smooth but they are far superior to a lot of clone mods.

The magnet switch is perfect, tad bit wobbly when you set it down without lock engaged but it definitely doesnt fire though. The magnet is wonderful, hardly need any force and so far hits every time without a problem.

So far so good, got it kicked with an 18350 and it vapes like a dream.

Does yours have the floating pin? If not, do you think it's worth waiting for and getting? Thanks

Alright guys its a done deal. Went to my local shop and bought the Magneto! It's the one with the logo and apparently doesn't have the floating pin, however I am not exactly sure what a floating pin does when you have a telescopic mod? Either way I have my Igo-W on it and OMG. This thing is a power house.

THe dude at the shop that built my coil got it at .3 OHMs and dear god! The flavor and cloud is unreal! It's definitely a stretch trying to vape 12mg (which I vape on my SVD) with this beast.

The build quality seems amazing and the fire button is awesome. All the threading is like butter right outta the box. I am super stoked, and the best part was it was on sale for $59 bucks, not bad for not having to wait for it in the mail.

How long do your guys builds normally last? I still need to buy some wick/wire and THEN learn how to wrap my own stuff lol.

I honestly can't compare this to much, but for my first mech this thing is more than I can handle, very happy with it!

Here are a couple pics of it with my Igo-W. The fire button is unlocked in all of them, and does not fire (in 18650 mode as well :O)

Next to my SVD (aka the BEAST lol).. The fire button is actually locked here just you can see it:

The adjustable floating pin makes it so all attys will sit flush on your mod

Any idea what ones will not? I am going for a genny style atty next, probably a RSST.

I am not sure as I am still very new to the game. Ive been eyeing the Magneto since the version 1 launched, but think I am going to wait for Triangle Vape to stock the version 2 just so I know all attys will be able to fit.

Just gotta talk myself into getting one as I just got my Provari like a week ago.. lol

If you already own a Magneto,

Krakenecigs (UK vendor), will have the new top caps with the adjustable pin to buy individually.

I'm sure other vendors will be carrying them soon enough

The floating pin's main purpose is to make good contact with an atty and allow you to flush mount it to your device. I'm surprised the guy at the shop built you a coil at .3 ohms, that would be a liability for them if something were to go wrong.

Sorry for the late reply from me, I love the magneto, glad you are loving yours too!

As others have mentioned there are 2 main reason, well one main reason and one secondary reason.

1, Good contact. Some Atty's cartos rba's post lengths are different. This can lead to a huge gap between said connected item and the top cap, or more importantly if the post is short, no connection to the pin inside the top cap. This can be disappointing/infuriating depending on the day/if you have nothing else to vape with ha.

So, a floating pin will auto raise/lower its position when the vape container (in whatever form) meets the pin in the top cap, pushing it down until it hits the battery to make a connection. Likewise, it if it is short the battery will push the pin up until it meets your container.

A floating pin, however is different from an adjustable pin. An adjustable pin is one that is threaded, and would require some manual configuration at some point. Either your devices are similar, so you size it to be flush/good connection once and be done, or adjust as needed (typicaly with a flat head screw style).

The secondary top cap that will be released at some point looks to be adjustable 1, and 2, is an Ego style top cap with a juice well. This may or may not be something you would like, so just keep that in mind.

I am NOT advising you do this, as it can break your mod, however there are plenty of videos on how to manually create an adjustable pin for the top cap also. Once top caps for the magneto are more easily found you can easily buy a replacement to create an adjustable pin without fear of being SOL if you break your current one.

Now that thats out of the way, the second point is aesthetics. Many people like flush fittings. Without that adjustable many containers will have a small/large (depending on container) gap between the top cap and bottom of the item. You may or may not care if this happens. If you do, one of the above things may be up your ally. Until then you may need to live with that.

With all of that said. I have had quite a few mechanical mods over the years and this was certainly one of the cheapest from a cost perspective, but one of the best from a pure function/design perspective.

I am in love with the magnetic throw of the switch, and it just works. The telescope has a tiny bit of wobble with larger batteries, but thats fine and hard to get away from on the TS mods. The finish and machining is very very good for this kind of mod/source and again, I cant express enough how much bang for your buck you get with this. It looks simple, and it is simple at the end of the day. This is its biggest strength. It is a solid design, solidly constructed and delivered, and it shows.
