First Mechanical Mod - Help needed - Safety Concern

Hi All,

i just oust purchased my first mechanical mod. It's a 4Nine and I want to make sure that I am being safe while using it.

I am not a sub ohm vaper and I never will be. It's simply too much for me. My current setup is a kayfun Lite at 1.2 to 1.7 Ohm nano coil. Or, an rda in the same range. I am using the 4Nine with an AW 18350 battery. This will be my daily setup.

Is this a safe setup? I don't want to blow myself up and because I really struggle with Ohms law, I have a hard time figuring it out on my own. In fact, I swore I would never buy a mechanical mod, but did so simply because the size of the 4nine and the build quality blew me away.

You help is very much appreciated! Any other advice is welcome, too!

At your lowest Ohm of 1.2 and a fully charged battery (4.2V) you are at 4.2/1.2= a 3.5 Amp draw, as long as you are using an AW IMR 18350 you have a 7 Amp limit so that is only at 50% of your max capability which is plenty safe

4.2v ~ 1.2 ohms = 3.5a & 14.7w,,, which is well within the 'safe' range of an AW 18350, if it is authentic.

Well....the maximum amps you will be drawing is 3.5 amps at at a fully charged 4.2 volts. Since the 700 mah version of that battery has a 7 amp continuous discharge limit, you will be fine.

All my batteries are IMR. I have ordered them from all reputable online shops, but cannot confirm authenticity.

You also need to make sure that the positive pin in the bottom of the Kayfun protrudes past the threading atleast 1mm. If it doesn't then there is the possibility that the batttery will short and can lead to some problems.

Out of curiosity, should the battery life being longer on the mechanical vs on a Provari, for example? The lack of electronics would make me think so, but again, I am no expert in this arena!

Actually...I have found the battery to last substantially longer on a regulated device.

Its because a regulated will put out the same power until the battery is dead. The mechanical mod will start to drop power as soon as your first hit. So fully charged it will be put out around 4.2v (minus a little voltage drop) but as you vape it you will notice that the vape weakens. Change it out when it hits 3.7-3.8v.
