I am not a mech fan, I own two, but very seldom use them. If you are not sub-ohming I don't see why you'd want one.

Are mechs safe?
Dynamite is safe if stored and used correctly
Proper batteries and build should prevent explosions

Batteries:
The battery must fit your build. Using Ohm's Law to select batteries that can provide Continuous Current of 50% greater than you atomizer requires. Ex I=V/R 4.2V (voltage of a fully charged battery)/ .8 ohms (the resistance of your tank) = 5.25 amps. So your minimum battery would be 10.5 amps.
Do Not Use ICR or Protected batteries.
If the manufactured name has Fire in it run don't walk away
Samsung, Panasonic, AW, Efest, Sony are good battery brands.

Be Careful Out There

The above does not take into account a possible short which could cause injury and damage property.

I'm not sure what the wicking limits are for an Aerotank but with the .8ohm head you'll be putting about 22W through the coil using a mech with a freshly charged battery. When I used clearos, the only coil I could push over 9W was the Aspire BVC and it started getting toasty at about 16W. Something to consider, I guess.

If youre only using that tank just get a regulated mod. If you want to start dripping etc grab a mech fuhattan and nemi are pretty simple to use. Hcigar nemi clone if you do get a clone. Seems to be the best clone imo. Theres a lot of diff mechs out there from single, double and tripple 18650 to single or dual 26650. Theres also good regulated box mods ipv v2 and v3 and Sigelei are good examples. Those offer you more options. Plus with those you get to regulate your wattage and theyll for the most part keep the wattage u set as your batts go down in power. In a mech the batts gonna go down quicker. Like Ebates said if you arent looking to sub ohm prob dont need a mech. I sub ohm and own mech boxes and regulated ones as well. I can tell you running a .15 build on a sony vtc doesnt get you much battery life and you can tell as the voltage drops. Now put that in a sigelei it will hold up a little longer. Sure you arent looking to build that low but you get the point.
