So I built my first self-made mod today out of a 1590G box. It took me a few hours longer than I expected, mostly due to trying to get everything to fit right in this little box. But this is now the smallest box mod that I own, it takes dual 18650s, has a mosfet to protect the switch, a fat daddy 510, and it has a voltmeter. It was a pain in the ..., and I scratched a few places by the voltmeter while trying to cut out the rectangular opening. I also had a hard time getting all of the soldering done and working. But it is done now and it is my mod! It's tiny, it hits hard, it's unregulated, and it lets me know how my batteries are doing. But I am already excited for the next one!

I had a 16mm switch with a great throw that I almost put in there, but if I would have used it, I wouldn't have been able to use the retaining nut for the switch unless I sanded off one of those screw corners of the box... or just glued the switch in. I guess I will use that nicer switch with a B box.

Those 14g solid core wires don't more very easy either. I ripped out my soldering twice on either the 510 or the mosfet trying to position everything. I think I will do the next one slightly differently. I'd like to try for a box that can fit a 16mm switch, voltmeter with bezel so I can hide any blemishes, and triple 18650s. You guys here in the modding forum do some really neat stuff. Thanks for motivating me.

The way I judge mods is how much I'd pay for it. I'd pay maybe around $40 to $60 dollars to own that mod.
I'd definitely though would pay $60 dollars is the button had a light in it that matched the voltmeter.
My concern though is you only have one button and no master/safety switch.

Remember this is all hypothetical.

Yeah, i thought about that. It's not perfect. There are some blemishes. But I am not selling it. And I didn't put a switch there because I didn't really want to try fitting something else in there. If I did make the same thing again to sell though, unregulated Hammond boxes with more than one 18650 start at about $75 on eBay. And G boxes with voltmeters are not easy to find.

I totally over looked the fact you can support 2 batteries, I'd definately agree then, including the fact of the price you bring up, that you made a mod worth $80-$90 dollars. I only mention it because I feel that it might bring more emotion that you've made something worth that much.

heh, yeah thanks! Its not really a business though. Its worth a lot to me simply because I thought about it, planned it out, found some parts, and put it all together myself. It was fun! I am so obsessed with all things vaping.

Yeah I agree about it not being a business, it wouldn't work out as a business (maybe when the doomsday of vaping comes). I understand the feeling of making mods and the sense of accomplishment they bring with them once you build it, there is a type of zen to it.

I probably should just of rated it on a scale to 1-10.

Personally I feel a little guilty or like I broke a rule saying a mod someone makes is worth something in cash, it might be seen as inappropriate.
