First Penelope Coil

Built my first coil on my new Penelope! That's the good news. The bad news: As I said I like LR vaping, so I built a coil with 3 wraps and it took me a while and a couple of tries, but I was happy and hell when I saw it working. Buuuuut it turned out to only be about 1.1ohms, which I found out is away to low for anything silica. I cannot vape this on anything and get a satisfying vape. It's either burnt tasting as hell or not much goin on, even around 2.7v on a homemade mod.

Just wanted to share my story with someone. Tomorrow I will try for more like 2 ohms...

Any tips?

I stopped using silica on my Penelope. I now use cotton from regular USP cotton balls. I just make sure it's pure cotton.

My mods can handle 1.1 ohms and I like the LR coils.

It also depends on the size of the wire you are rebuilding with. 32 gauge wire can give higher ohms than 30 gauge wire.

Just a dumb question, but did you open your juice control? Many people forget to open it up after putting it together. Just thought Id put it out there.
Many people do real low resistance build with thier Penelopes or Odys and vape at real high voltage with lots of moist hot vape.

Yeah really low resistance coils are the ONLY way to go with a Penelope! Bishopeals does 0.6ohm dual coils on silica in his Penelope and it rocks. Definitely something else going on here.

BTW, source: Right now i'm puffing away on a Penelope that has about a .8-.9ohm coil on a silica wick. Not even a hint of burned taste.

most likely a wire touching the inside of the housing somewhere, creating a possible short
