Hello ECF!

Im new to the forum and relatively new to vaping. Started just a little over 3 weeks ago now. I bought the eGo-T as my first e-cig and the smoktech ego mega dual coil cartomizers and had no problems with them till today.

I just bought a new batch of juice which is all VG based. Its a lot thicker than PG or even VG/PG mix. So I filled up a fresh cartomizer with a few ml of juice (like 2.5 or so.) Instantly had a strange chemical like burning taste to it. I thought itd go away after a couple vapes but it got worse. it also gets much much hotter then my other dual coil which is working fine with a VG/PG based mix in it.

Basically im wondering if the emdcc is defective or if the pure VG mix is unvapeable/is just burning in the cartomizer.

I also took the tip off and took a peak inside while i pushed the button to see if it would do anything unsual, and the coil in the bottom it looked like lit up bright red, like hot metal, while the coil up top stayed the same colour it was before i had vaped anything.

should I contact smoktech about this? also if it is defective and smoktech wont do anything about it is there anyway i can salvage the juice thats inside of it? itd be a shame to throw away a couple ml of juice and being a student im really on a budget, hence the quitting smoking! haha!

any and all help is appreciated!

my other MDC was filled with a 60/40 mix of VG/PG and it has never been filled with more then 2.5 ml of fluid, could the PG really make that much a difference?

do i just need to let vg sit 5 times as long? i notice its wayyy thicker then the VG/PG stuff i have and i can fill a carto in about 5 minutes, no leaks, and vape right after no issues.

should i be worried about the burning taste or the fact its glowing red?

edit: i thought letting it sit might help before so ill try it now after its been sitting for an hour and let u kno. if it doesnt work ill add a bit more juice n let it sit. should have 2.5 ml in ther though.. thats like 4 days of vaping for me! haha

with 5 drops then a 1 ml syringe with no end shooting the juice right into the polyfil, i think its called? the cotton stuff. x2 per ml.

@keysbum, it still tastes crazy burnt chemical like and the cotton stuff looks like slush kinda. Should i still try more juice? should i maybe try the VG/PG stuff in there to see if its a bad carto or if its too thick to vape?

aha.. i did the second of the too hah!

why is that bad?

@susank, did you experience the crazy chemical taste aswell? its like a burning chemicalish taste?

Because you compact the filler and the juice doesn't get to the bottom of the carto. What you are tasting is burning polyfil. You prolly trashed the carto.

Yes. Use a syringe with a needle. Leave the condom on the threads. Slide the needle down the side of the carto between the carto wall and the filler. Slowly put about half in, pull the needle rotate 180 degrees slide it back in and inject the rest of the juice. You may need to drip some more into the top until you get the "slushy" look. I am not sure how much a MDC holds, if you say 2.5, ok. I havn't used one in a long time, I'm not a fan of MDCs. I use boge standard size.

That all having been said, I'm not a fan of thick VG in cartos either. I use PG or 80/20, that's just me and what I like. Maybe some VG fans will have better advice for you regarding VG and cartos.

I've heard of people diluting their pure VG mixes with a little distilled water to thin them out. The filler in cartos doesn't seem to like to absorb thick liquids (there are a couple I fight with) and it is often stated that 100% VG can kill cartos. I use high PG mixes so I can't give you the best method to dilute your liquid, but I'm sure someone with a little more experience in that area will be along shortly.
