the 2 months that i've been vapeing, i've acquired alot of knowledge and also found several vendors i would like to share with my peers , for health canada to not approve of a device that has helped so many people is just mind blowing to me it's like they are saying NO WE WANT TO KILL YOU....lol and i'm sayin to myself no thanks i'll take the chance and vape
Their (real) issues are twofold.
1) They want control. They want to do what the FDA tried (and failed) to do and regulate E-cigs as drug delivery devices, thus requiring expensive market authorization for every E-cig to be marketed in Canada.
2) They want tax revenue. In addition to the expensive market authorization, they want a good cut of high taxation on E-cig products.
There are things in motion currently to try and effectively do what was done in the UK, but it's going to be some considerable time before we find out if any of it will be successful or not. In the mean time, we've got a small and in some cases slightly secretive (but still quality) assortment of vendors, and we take risks any time we order juices from across the border. It sucks, but at least they're not flat out illegal like they are in some countries, so at least we have that. I just hope we can do better in the long run and have a fully legitimized E-cig market in the long run. And I'll be honest: I think we will. Evidence continues to grow on the effectiveness and low health risks of electronic cigarettes, exposure in mainstream media is growing, and I think that ultimately, the preponderance of evidence, positive media exposure and increasing pressure from the ever and rapidly growing nation of vapers will force Health Canada's hand.
We can't be ignored forever.
