Just wanted to make my first post here and say hi. My member name is RRT because that's what I am- a Registered Respiratory Therapist. At least 80% of the people I treat on a daily basis at the hospital where I work are suffering and dying from cigarette smoking. Talk about an ironic job to have and be a smoker... needless to say I need to quit. I'm 27 years old and have a wife, 2 kids, and another coming in June. I'm not going down in a cloud of my own demise like these poor suckers laying around me hacking up their lungs. Nope, not me.
SO...I found this forum when I got interested in e-cigs as a potential stop smoking aid, and in one long night of reading I'd made a decision of what could work for me. I got my Joye eGo Thursday from a seller recommended on this site- puresmoker, and it came fast. Also got some extras and stuff from Vapor King, came even faster.
I watched several Youtube vids and the series for broke newbs by mistress nomad and that's why I got the extra accessories- to make my vaping as versatile as possible. Got some carts, empty cartos, pre-filled cartos, a drip tip...
First impressions- very glad I got it. Direct dripping and using the drip tip is a lot of fun so far. Simple and effective, not messy, produces good vapor. I have to chuckle to myself, I worked a 16 hour shift the first day I got the e-cig and never once went out for a smoke. It was so funny, I'd get in the elevator, the door would close, and I'd whip it out for a quick puff before the doors flew open again. I imagined people wondering why it smelled like cherry cola when they stepped onto the elevator. The carts are disappointing. I filled one with about 15 drops and it lacks vapor, throat hit, almost like it needs way more juice, but I didn't want to overflow it. I got genuine 510 cartos and filled one with this amazing peachy menthol- the carto is way better than the cart in my opinion, but it's kinda leaky. I only put .8ml in it and it was dripping out the battery end, which worried me since I read about frying batteries (even though my eGo's manual.) Plus when I switch cartos to change what flavor I vape, the other one has to get the little rubber caps on both ends, then when I switch back I gotta pull the caps off, stow them somewhere, wipe all the leaked juice from the mouthpiece and thread ends... it's just more of a pain than I imagined it'd be.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and I'm excited and hopeful that this will help me kick the habbit for good. By the way, I've had the eGo for 4 days, and I finished my last 8 real cigarettes and that's it in those 4 days, and don't plan to buy more.
Thanks for listening.
