Hello,

This is my first post on a forum. I wasn't sure if I should be adding this to an existing thread or creating a new one. Anyways, I'm sure someone will tell me if I've gone about this the wrong way.

I bought my first e-cig kit about 6 months ago and slowly went off regular cigs. I have been a smoker for nearly 15 years and it was time.
I've been using the same model more or less since, the eGo-C. I started off with the atomizers that came with that kit but found filling the tip a little tedious so when my local store offered me cartomizers I bought them. Easy to fill and I liked the feeling of the mouth piece better as well.
My problems now are, cartomizers are leaking. They leak in my purse, I find they leak even sitting up right on a flat surface. I'm wasting liquid away. Also the seem to get a burnt taste quickly even with the long wicks.
Second problem is my vap seems to be deteriorating. The battery I am using now is about 3.5 months old, not sure if its dead or if its not charging properly. Heats after a drag or two.
All these technical issues, its hard to know if its your atmoizers, cartomizers or batter or even the liquid you are using?

Possibly I need a whole new unit. I smoke a lot outside of my work place and in social situations so I prefer it didnt look like a lamp shade or some other weird contraption but I'm ready to invest some money if this is what I need to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!

Welcome to ecf!

You'll be flooded with ideas for good devices lol

I've never had the model you're using, so I doubt I can help you with a fix...but if you look up at the top of this page under forum suppliers, you'll find days worth of sites to visit.

some ideas from devices I've used and liked:

Vapor4Life their ego kits and the smaller tanks..work well, and easy to use..also their xl 808 batteries (I prefer manual) work like a charm with the tanks for when you want something smaller to tote around

Nhaler - Smoking Alternatives just got one of their vv igos the other day..works like a champ, but I haven't had it long enough to give a thumbs up or down on lifespan...but it works great as of now

Good luck!

Since you mentioned long-wicks I assume we are talking about some sort of clearomizers? If that is the case, check the top seal to make sure it is seated properly, check for cracks in the tank or it could be a faulty or worn bottom seal. For the burnt taste, make sure the top seal is not pinching the wicks. Do you clean/dry burn your coil? If not, that may account for the burnt taste and deteriorating performance. It would help if you could let us know what type of clearo you have.

Hey! Congrats on the quit :) Sometimes it get so frustrating, doesn't it? I hate leaks too!

It sounds like you're using clearomizers (as opposed to cartomizers which look like a cig filter)? Mine tended to leak too. You have to make sure everything is nice and tight and clean them up every now and again. The juice can goop up and prevent a good seal.

Your battery could be having issues if it's getting hot. I don't think you should be getting that much heat... I'm finding that if I use a 2.4 head on my clearo (I use the ones that you can change heads), I still get good vapor and they don't burn as hot with an ego. That helped to get rid of some of the burnt taste. Also, if you can tolerate pg, try a blend with a higher pg level. The juices are a little thinner and you will lose some sweetness, but it wicks soooo much better.

I would strongly encourage you to invest in another battery. I have a collection of them that I rotate; I never want to be left without. My vape shop said that the egos last through about 500 charges - that should be right about a year - but I suppose it all depends on how often you are charging.

For my purse, I use a digital camera case that I altered with a thread and needle to suit my needs. I line the inside pocket with a piece of paper towel and keep all my clearos/cartos lined up in it. I always keep two spare batteries (in case one loses its charge and one fails at the same time).

Weird looking contraptions are cool though :) But I do have two cigalikes that I keep with me too. I feel ya!

You can PM me if you have any specific questions, but I'm still fairly new to this. I just know what I like and what works for me :)
