hi guys and gals, i just randomly found the e cigs online while searching for christmas pressies, so i went and ordered one as i thought it must be better than smoking!

im just wondering what to expect from them, i dont smoke that much, but i smoke old holborn when i do, can anyone recommend what kind of strenght carts i will need to start with to keep me off the real ones?

also i ordered a mini e cig from the electronic cigarette company

im not sure how good they are or what you guys think, i ordered it and then found this place! so hopefully its not a crap one, but please be honest, i dont mind! lol

thanks in advance

Al

Hi Al, welcome to the forum.

The electronic cigarette company is run by one of the members here - Pillbox38. That's a good place to make your first purchase.

The mini is the DSE901 which is frequently recommended, this is a good device to start you off.

Replacing nicotine doesn't have a straightforward answer, it's not the same as smoking so we can't directly compare how much nicotine we are absorbing. The most sensible thing to do is to start off low and go higher if you need to. Everyone finds their own level but be careful, it's easy to overdose with esmoking. You'll find some useful measuring guides here - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/health-safety-e-smoking/3598-nicotine-safety.html

Hi Al and welcome. The mini is a great starter e-cig, I'm still using my first one I think they're that good. As for the strength I would say the 18mg, don't go for the 36 unless you like MAJOR nicotine rushes (it blew my head off and I had to sit down for 20 mins :) ). I'm currently using 18mg apple flavour and its really quite tasty. Hope this helps.

Hi Al ,
Welcome to the Forum.

I too smoked Old holborn before i got e-cigs and im tending to use the higher strength stuff atm roughly 24mg. A good starter would be a medium strength (11mg) but grab a few 18mg (high) too just incase. It may be wise to start lower and find out for yourself, different people have different nicotine tolerence so play it safe.

If you ordered the mini from HERE then you have made a great choice for the first time user. That would be the DSE-901 , a well recommended first purchase. The guy who runs that site also frequents here often , his user name is Pillbox38.

E-smoking doesn't really compare to real cigs so don't expect it to be the same, similar yes. e-smoking tastes better especially with some nice flavour e-liquid, smells nicer but you still get the feeling of having a cig, at least to some degree...suck it and see.

The other thing you might want to get once you decide which nic strength suits you is some e-liquid. Pillbox38 also owns and runs the Totall Wicked e-liquid brand and the site can be found HERE.

Ofcourse any more question have a browse around the forums , lots of info about or just ask ;)

do you still get the cigarette after taste after using an e cig?

i was going to order some flavoured ones but thought they'd be rubbish, maybe i'll order a selection and give them a go!

hell no..none of that ashtray feeling between your teeth.

Take a look around the review section for e-liquid reviews to get an idea on what to expect from certain flavours.

also dont believe any of that 1 cartridge = 20 real cigarettes rubbish.
Using a des-901 , 1 cartridge = 3-5 real ciggies worth of smoking.

Most everyone will agree the DSE901 is the best for the money you spend. This is my current e-gig. E-cigs are not for everyone. Be patient with it, it will reward you with a pleasant experience. They can be cantankerous at times and I'm not sure why. One day they smoke very good, the next day not worth crap. I have been vaping for about 4 months now and prefer these over analog smokes.

Good luck and don't give up,
