First post: this just ROCKS!

New Canadian member here, and new to vaping having started just last week. This is my first post.

I just wanted to say that vaping is a BLESSING. I started smoking at age 13, I'm 49 now and although 9 years ago I managed to quit (cold turkey at first, then with some help from Champix) and stay clean for 3 years, I eventually relapsed and have been trying to quit again ever since. I had heard of e-cigarettes and had seen them at my regular smoke shop, but I was told they contained no nicotine.. well, not going to quit cigarettes by breathing peppermint air, I thought.

Thing was, I really didn't want to smoke anymore. Aside from all the health-related dangers, I was just tired of the stench in the house, of having to step outside of the office in the Canadian winter when I just had to have one, of feeling the stigma of being a smoker. I didn't even really enjoy the taste anymore, I had to drink extra coffee just so I could have a cigarette right after without ending up with a bad mouth. I tried nicotine gum and patches, but the gum gave me violent hiccups and the patches were too expensive and prone to detaching, so I used them only on long flights when I just had no other options. Both aids left me dissatisfied anyway.

A little over a week ago a family member showed me her PV setup, had me try it, and I decided to plunk down the equivalent of 2 cartons of Camels for a T-Rex C starter kit (which I understand being an EGO C clone) and a couple of 30ml juice bottles. Got it all in the mail in less than 48h and everything's changed ever since.

Vaping leaves a pleasant flavour in my mouth, instead of tar and dirt. I'm breathing better and better all the time. I no longer need to use nasal decongestant spray at bedtime just to get a decent night sleep. I'm smelling all sorts of things and food is starting to taste great again. This is what happened when I quit once before, but this time it will be without the months-long cravings.

And I'm FREE. I can vape anywhere. At work, in museums, in flight, at bridge tournaments, in bed, at friends' homes, in stores, in restaurants, at the movies, you name it. I don't bother anyone and nobody bothers me. And cherry on top, I am going to save so much money - especially here in Canada, where tobacco taxes are very high.

This is the future. This stuff is simply groundbreaking. I still had half a pack of analogs left from before getting my kit, and I trashed it today. Never again. The Chinese fellow who invented this should be canonized. Thanks, Sir.

I'm thrilled I found this site where I will be able to learn so much more about all this, and associate with fellow vapers. Greetings to you all, and thanks for reading :)

Unfortunately you may be wrong about being able to vape anywhere. Many airlines are banning it on the grounds that it might cause mental perturbance in other passengers, and in privately owned establishments it's up to the owner to decide. Perhaps this will change with time but in the meantime it's best to ask first.

Hopefully as the general public becomes more aware and better educated it won't be so much of a problem and will come to be accepted. In the meantime, use the act of asking to educate those you speak to. You might be pleasantly surprised at the reactions you get this way, rather than the hostile reactions you may get if you just vape up in privately owned establishments.

Welcome to the vaping world. I am relatively new to ECF also but all these people here have been great life savers. Beware the pitfalls of vaping though. It is addictive perhaps not due to any drugs or chemicals but due to all the fun gadgets you can buy along with the almost infinite variety of great juice vendors. Outside of forums like ECF I had never heard of all the incredible mods and accessories available for vaping. I hope you enjoy your vape journey :)

Welcome my Canadian brother :) . If you have any questions or need a good list of Canuck gear / joose suppliers (I know how hard it is sometimes to find good stuff in Canada), I'd be more than happy to oblidge! Cheers man! :toast:
Thanks brother! :) Yes, I would really appreciate it if you could send me that list. I understand that ordering juice from outside Canada can end up with customs blocking the delivery and I really wouldn't care for that. I also need to identify a regular supplier for other consumables and accessories while I sort out all of the available options out there, and can certainly use the help and experience of someone who's already been down that road. I changed my settings here so other members can e-mail me, so please go ahead when convenient to you. Thank you again! :)
