I am relatively new to vaping. My husband bought me my first starter kit for our 18th wedding anniversary in October 2014. My last cigarette was October 20th and I haven't touched one since. :) I am learning as I go, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Recently, I have been having issues with the wicks. They seem to last me a week before the hit starts to die. The ecig also starts to get very hot in the coil area. I have 3 batteries, 2 regular and one twist. In December, we bought about 5 wicks and I seem to have gone through all of them. I was a pack to 2 pack a day smoker, so I hit it quite a bit.

Hello everyone, I just started vaping a couple of weeks and im enjoying it. I started with Ego CE4 starter kit that i bought online, then i tried mixing my own e juice, quite fun on doing it though one week patience waiting till you can start vaping away with do it urself e-juice...Want to try nicotine e juice but hard to find online ,coz it always says in shipping that "doesnt ship to finland"..and i didnt find any vaping shop here, there are two vape shop online but they dont sell concentrated nicotine..Anyways im trying to kick the habit of nicotine also, so maybe better not to....I bought also Aspire CE5 BVC dual coil but learned that have to buy also replacement coil for it coz they say that it wont last long... Good day everyone, happy vaping!

welcome, i am new too..i went threw many diff types of vape pens and stuff until I finally found what worked for me...I have two setups...an eleaf 20 watt i stick which eventually I will upgrade to the 30 watt or 50 watt ( I have a nautilus mini on that or sometimes use my Subtank mini with 1.2 coils ) and I also have the Aspire CF battery with the Atlantis ( and sometimes use the lower coils for the subtank mini on this as well) this is what finally got me to quit smoking. I have a few mech mods as well that I don't use ,I got those before I got my Aspire setup and Istick and really had a hard time with the mec mods with rdas( i didnt and still cant build so would have to take it to vape shop every week, it was just a pain. I am so happy I found what works for me, I was ready to give up before I found these two devices I use now.

Hi, xfacadex, Welcome to ECF!

As others have said, these coils don't last forever; a week is about average life for these.

However, there are a couple of things you can do to make them last longer:

1. Clean them. Pop off the top post (which will expose the coil and wick) and soak them in vodka (or even warm water). No soap!
You can often re-use them several times if you clean them well. Also, an ultrasonic cleaner (like a jewelry cleaner) can help.

2. Learn to re-wick them. You can get a tiny bit of cotton, and change the wick in these. Gotta be a bit careful, since the coils are small.

3. Learn to re-coil them. (This is more difficult than just re-wicking). You can actually replace the whole coil in these, either with a new coil you've wound yourself, or with pre-made coils like these:

Good luck!

No I don't. The second one even lasted me that long, before I changed it out for different flavour. But since?? Nope. When I bought the kit the guy told me the wick could last me a few weeks to over a month depending on how much I smoke. There are time it tastes funny, but I think after smoking for so many years, my taste buds are thrown off. Tell you the truth, most the time I can hardly taste the flavour of these liquids.

Welcome to ECF. Your husband purchased your first e-cig kit for your 18th anniversary? Sounds like true love to me; he cares about your health and wants you around for a bit longer. Congrats on quitting the analogues, great work

Helpful, thanks.

I expect your tastebuds will come back over the next few months. :)

There is a UK brand that says the coils will last 8-10 weeks. I know from experience (of this design) that most of the taste is lost after about a week usually.

I use Aspire BVC coils for about 10-15 days. They are still working well at two weeks, but the taste has almost gone.
