First protank rebuild

Wasn't sure if this goes in rebuildables or clearo sub forum, but here's a pic of my first protank rebuild. It was supposed to be a microcoil, but the coils weren't quite touching. Metered at 2.8 ohms. 11 or 12 wraps with 30 ga. Wicked with organic cotton ball. I'll update with how it vaped.

Crud. I just realized I didn't test fire it to see if there were any hot spots. Well, I guess I'll try that with the next head. I've got several ready to rebuild so I'll redo another one and test it here in a minute. We'll go ahead and try this one out in about an hour, once the juice has soaked in.

Vapes good so far. Can't say much about taste, because I'm dealing with a cold and some dry mouth issues, but IT VAPES! I'm having an adult BEvERage (don't remember if that's allowed to discuss here, and besides, it brings me back to my college days) to congratulate myself for building a working coil.

It looks really thick to be a microcoil. Your coils almost touch the sides, be careful with that, it can cause short on you.

Congratulations on your fist protank rebuild. It only gets cheaper from there.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how that'd work out. I didn't figure any math beforehand, but was aiming for 2.2-2.5 ohms. I figured too high on the # of loops. Live and learn.

Update--no shocker here. I'm pretty sure the untested coil popped this evening. About 24hrs of life to that one. We'll see how the other head works tomorrow--I left it at my office.

The first couple were built on a 5/64" dill bit shank. I did some more the other day on a thick paperclip leg that have worked out better. Now I'm trying to get the amount of cotton right for the wick. The first ones were wanting to flood. So with the paperclip coils, I rolled a smidge of cotton ball into a skinny tube and used a piece of the cut tube as a flavor wick. No gurgling and most importantly, no burning with the AVE dreamberries. That was not wicking for crap with the stock heads, but is going great on the 2ohm paperclip coil.

Have you had any issues with gurgling? I'm still using my T3S cotton rebuild and it seems to be gurgling a bit once the juice is around the halfway mark.

There are some excelent videos out ther that show precisely how build these....an ohm meter dontnhurt either.

Not in the protank. I also recoiled a smoktech aro and that has been gurgling on and off, but more around the halfway point and less below that. And no leaks from either. So while it may be getting a bit too much juice, it's not enough to leak. With these thick vg juices, I'm just surprised I haven't burnt a wick yey.
