Hey guys,

I just received my first rba and Mech mod.
The Kraken clone and the Nemesis clone.
Now since I have no experience with this, I would like to ask a question.
I've built my coil with 0.60mm nichrome wire, which took me a few takes and was hard to get it right.
When I finally managed to make a decent looking coil, I had a hard time getting the legs stuck under the screws.
Everytime I tightened the screw, the wire would just get pushed out.
After a few hours I finally managed to get the wires under the screws.
Now when I tested the resistance with my multimeter, the readings kept going from 1 ohm to 54 ohms and everything inbetween really fast, so I figured something was wrong.
After playing with the coil for a bit I tried again and got a quite steady reading, it fluctuates between 1.4-1.7 ohms.
Substracting the 0.8 ohms from the multimeter itself gives me a resistance of around 0.6 ohms.
The battery I'm using is a Sony VTC4 18650 30A.

Does everything look good/safe according to you guys?
I would like to make sure and not take too much risk.

Thanks in advance!

For my first rebuildable I bought it from a B&M store and watched while they built it. The next build I did while they watched. It made me feel a lot safer and I was more than happy to spend a little more for the atty and get the customer service.

Now, using an ohm's law calculator, google is a great place to find stuff like this, at 3.7 volts you will have 22.8 watts and a 6.16 amps. The battery will deliver up to 30 amps which is a nice safety margin.

Enjoy vaping it.

Good on you for subtracting the resistance of the meter.

Yeah I can imagine feeling safer with experienced people watching while you build your first coil.
There is no one around here who vapes tho, unfortunately, so I had to do it by myself while watching youtube videos.

I indeed used an ohm's law calculator to check on my the amps I would get but I'm not too experience in this field, hence why I made a thread here.

Thanks for your answer!

NO! You have a short. You must tighten down the screws REALLY TIGHT to make sure that the wire stays put. When you start vaping that bad boy the resistance is going to jump all over the place and if the coil gets loose in a weird position it could get dangerously low (depending on the AMP limit of your battery). You should really get an ohm reader so you can wiggle the wires around to make sure you have a steady ohm reading (shouldn't jump more than 0.2 ohms, not jumping at all is even better).

The rapid reading /might/ have been caused by the wire touching any of the surface of the RBA. It sounds like you know what you are doing well enough and you are well within the capabilities of the VTC4. When I first started using mods it was a copper nemesis and an igo-L, I honestly had no idea what I was doing at the time so I built all my coils at 1.7ish to be on the safe side. Now that i'm more experienced I can experiment. It all comes with practise! I have loads of fun building coils and trying unique builds, and as long as you are using an ohm meter you will be safe. Happy vaping :D

You picked a very tough rba to learn on.

I would urge you to pick up a simple dripper (patriot, igo w etc etc) and master that before a genny like the kraken.

With a genesis you have two battles, coiling it correctly and getting it to wick correctly.

Also, if your multi meter has an internal resistance of .6ohms then it is time to buy a new one that is more suitable to this purpose

Your OHMs reading also MAY be fluctuating do to the multimeter being a POS or not holding the prongs steadily.

Lastly, are you aware how powerful .2ohms really is?

I've been thinking of getting a dripper indeed, but I just couldn't resist this beautiful genny for $13.
I'll still buy a dripper tho as soon as I have money for it again.

As for the multimeter, I bought it today for around $25.

And yes, I know that .2ohms is really powerful and I was not purposely aiming for it, hence why I'm asking for some help here.
