Hey everyone! I have been lurking in this area for a while and decided to try the trial pack from GetSnus.com for $1. I can't find the right link for it because now it says $3.00.... I think you can still get it for $1.00 though.

Anyways, I have tried all the Camel Snus here in America while I was TDY and thought they weren't too bad. I don't really dip, but oddly I preferred Skoal Mint Pouches to any of the Snus.

First Impression:

I just opened it maybe 15 min ago. I popped in "General - Dry Mini Mint" and so far I think it's great! I got the usual burn-in for maybe a minute or two and now everything is solid! Nice mint taste and a decent nic buzz. No tobacco-mint taste like with Camel Frost and no real noticable saliva generation. When I swallow, there is no tobacco burn on the throat, only a light mint taste. It sort of feels like a have a weak mint in between my lip, soothing.

I will update when I try each flavor. So far so good. =)

:)

Good for you, Carti3r! You made a good choice. The sampler is a nice way to get your feet wet.

I still have some Camel Frost and Mellow, but now that I've experienced the difference between american and real snus, I find Camel a very poor second.

When I want REAL satisfaction, Swedish Snus is the Lexus of smokeless tobacco - Camel is more like the Geo Metro.

:D

I think Camel Frost is a perfect dessert snus. Not a mainstay, but ...

I have a Swedish Camel snus in my mouth now. Both the white and regular Camels are pretty nasty tasting. Not at all like American Camel snus (made by an entirely different company with rights to the Camel brand identification outside of the U.S.). I wanted the tins for my collection, anyhow, but won't order these again.

Gee I'm waiting for my tin of Camel to arrive from Northener. I thought this one might be pretty good now I'm not so sure.:(

You might like it. Not I, but everyone has a different taste for these. I've had both Camel products for about a week and use maybe three of each a day, while using mostly General Mint and Oomph Citrus/Menthol. The tins aren't that great either!

Among Americans names, I like Lucky Strike. Pall Mall is okay. 1847 is okay. Camel is the pits of my list of American names.

The mini mint is the favorite one here Carti3r, and also General Wintergreen white portions. The Skruf Cranberry is what I reach for when I want something different though.

And psssssttt...don't tell Elwin I have a Camel Frost in my mouth as I type this, hehe

Why ya' little heathen - talkin' behind my back!

I didn't say that I didn't use Camel Frost or Mellow. I just said that I thought it was a poor 2nd. I still have it and use it. Heck, I have people here in my town giving me those "free tin" coupons all the time, so I'm not about to turn down freebies.
:D

Carti3r - pay no attention to these Philistines. Just do what's right for YOU.
ANY Snus is still better than a cancer stick.
Heck, even Skoal is still better than a Marlboro.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled chaos...

OK, so I think it's high time I try this SNUS stuff myself. Would one of you experienced SNUSers (TropicalBob) suggest a site, manufacturer and flavor for me in a PM? Thanks in advance!

Actually, that question is of general interest, so I'll address it here. There are three primary sites to order from: Northerner, BuySnus and GetSnus. I've used only the first two, and find Northerner less expensive overall.

From their menu, look at "white mini" portions. Many here like General Mini Mint. Oomph is pretty good. I like the Lucky Strike white, but it's stronger than the others suggested. Basically, these are not so expensive that a mistake will bankrupt you. DO NOT ORDER A ROLL. Order individual tins until you find what you like. Refrigerate tins you are not using at the moment -- whether white or regular.

Also, you might see if Camel is available at a local store. It's very, very sweet, but that suits many just fine.

Google for specific URLs and good luck trying some.

Well, we're always talking to your back with that avatar you use :D Wow, send a few of your friends this way...none of mine have any of those free tin coupons!

I'm not TropicalBob, (checking again...nope, I'm not a dude! :p) but I've ordered from both northerner.com and getsnus.com. From notherner I only ordered things I can get from their US warehouse so I'm clueless about their Sweden warehouse and shipping, etc. I did notice though that when I put the same order in each shopping cart, it did end up being a lower total price by buying them from getsnus.com. So just try that...they're both good companies! :)

Getsnus.com also has a couple of freebies for $1 postage and give you a "mystery can" with an order of 5 cans. I also tried their "flavored sampler" and most of them are pretty good. But the General Mini Mint is the tops!

Alright, Well, I have tried all the portions now to their completion and I am here to report on it.

Mint White Mini - My favorite with the trial pack. For me, good nicotine hit and slight sweet taste. I use these in class sometimes so I don't want to get too much nicotine. Just enough to keep me alert. Not so good when you are looking for a good nic buzz though.

White Wintergreen - This was second for me. I thought it had a good taste but was a little too much nicotine for me to use in Class. Was great when out drinking or hanging out with friends.

General White - Good nicotine hit, too much for class though. Not a fan of the salty-ness. As time went on it started to grow on me more, just not to the point of missing it when without.

General - Again, Good nicotine hit, too much for class though. Same salty-ness that I guess just hasn't grown on me enough. I can see something like this and the White being craved for later one the taste has been acquired for it but for now, I am not at that point.

So, I ordered three cans of the White Mini's from GetSnus.com: Eucalyptus, Licorice, and Mint

Gonna rock these in class for now, and then probably get some wintergreen or Goat Rape in the future for more social use. I would like to try a lot of the flavors to ease into the White portion instead of the mini.

This is too funny. I am so not a fan of the American Camel SNUS, so had absolutely REFUSED to ever order the Swedish Camel snus. You just confirmed my decision.

(I also refuse to order Offroad, Phantom or Grand Prix either, due to horrible reviews on the Snuson website.)

Were you by chance an ultralight smoker? I MUCH prefer the mini-portions, which only have 4 mg of nicotine instead of the 8 mg in regular portions, or God forbid, strong portions which are even higher. If the General White is too strong for you, it does also come in a mini-portion. Additionally, General Silver (Mild) has 6 mg of nicotine instead of 8, although the portion sizes are regular sized, instead of mini.

So, I ordered three cans of the White Mini's from GetSnus.com: Eucalyptus, Licorice, and Mint

Some morning, try popping the Iicorice. After about 5-10 minutes, once the salt has dissolved and your mouth and throat are enveloped with the licorice and tobacco flavor, proceed to drink some coffee. You WON'T be disappointed, I assure you.

Goat rape comes in minis as well.

No, I was actually a Red 100's smoker, but since vaping, I have significantly reduced my nicotine intake by diluting and mixing my own juice.

I love a good Nic buzz, but anything other than a mini right now is just too much for me, I would rather be alert than feel buzzed when in class.

However, when I am drinking or being social, bring on the nic! I think I will get the Rape in a standard size, and depending on how my taste buds react, get some in mini too.

I have heard really good things about the three I purchased. Surprisingly I have seen people post the same morning routine with the Licorice as you did. I don't drink coffee, but maybe I could find a substitute. Might be hard, I only take a protein shake in the mornings and those are usually Chocolate or Vanilla flavored.

Ooh thanks, I'm going to try this tomorrow with LD Black (also licorice).
I'd never have thought to mix it with coffee, it just doesn't sound right but - purely in the interest of research you understand  - I'm going to give it a go.

Also, I'm going to be the sole defender of Swedish Camel (white) 'cos I like it. Not my favourite but it's got a nice mild flavour IMHO. One of the better white regulars. I'm waiting for Lucky Strike strong to come out (should be in a couple of weeks) before I try a new non-Swedish brand.
