first time cleaning carto's

now i see why so many just buy them prefilled.
washed them in hot tap water then couple of dunks in not quite boiling water and drew water threw them with a syrenge. blew them out and final rinse with vodka and dried with the taryn spin method mouth pc to out side of spin now air drying..............sheeeeeze what a pain

only reason i did it was i bought some juice to try and didnt want to buy blanks. cheepest way to try diffrent flavors was buying the 5ml.

the vg cowboy not liking it no flavor at all tastes like cardboard, loads of vaper though
the vg cola not bad still tastes like coke
pg cola better than vg kinda like a fountan coke
pg doc pepper is just like the carts hint of rootbeer
havent tried the vg coffee yet as i am waiting for more carto's to dry.

so far i the ones like best is 555, pineapple, mint, Cappuccino and coffee in pg
i love the Vapor King Manual Battery and the Manual xl and manual pt now just gotta get me a manual shorty and a bigger case for all this stuff

I really don't find it necessary to clean them that well unless they have a heavy flavor to them, hot water rinse and blow works great for me. I've used boiling on some where the batting got very discolored (banana juice tends to do that to me).

you dont think the orignal flavor would come out in the new juice as im not putting the same flavor back iin the used cart?

Sometimes it does but fill it with a compatible flavor instead. If you absolutely don't want the old flavor coming through at all then perhaps try an everclear/vodka soak then rinse.

yea did the vodka rinse guess i went a little over board but wanted only new flavor to come threw as i went from pg to vg and i think i wont be buying the vg again 1 of 3 flavors actuly had any taste or smell to them. think ill just buy the prefilled even the vg carts taste better than this stuff. if i didnt know any better i would say they forgot to add something as cowboy and coffee both taste and smell like burnt cardboard the cola tastes ok i tryed it in several carts too 3 each flavors but only cola tastes like it should

i must be special, or maybe i need to let them dry overnight, because out of all my rinse/blow cleanings, only one flavor actually 'took' and didn't taste like wet carboard or just.. not vape well. i'm thinking i didn't dry them out enough, though i blew til no water was coming out, and then let them sit an hour. *shrugs!* practice, practice, practice!!

plus i'm starting to wonder if my juices are going bad or something, even though i'm storing them in cool/dark area; they're in a nice box and everything.

Tim - Did you rinse the vodka out with water before you filled? I'm pretty sure you're supposed to do that.

Antiithesis - Are you giving them another blow after you let them sit? I can't remember who posted it but it was weeks ago. He had pointed out that the water doesn't drain out it will just pool at the battery end. If you give it another quick blow or two after they sit you'd be surprised how much more water will come out.

I just run under some warm to hot water, blow them out and refill. I dont even let them dry and they work fine.

I probable go over board on making it complicated when cleaning carts. I don't do it ever time though. I wash them out ever 5 or so refills or when a taste may clash with with the flavor that was in the cart. Thats proable less then 50% of the time

i find the vodka rinse effective, mainly because they dry so fast--but i get the same result with boiling water, which is free.

i think some of you have more powerful lungs, because blowing-out-drying gives me substandard results, too... so don't feel bad, h. *shrugs* maybe i'm a better sucker than i am a blower.

I've only just rinsed with cool tap water and blew through a few times until no more water comes out onto a paper towel. Haven't had any flavors "bleed" into the next fill. But it might be that I'm only putting new flavors into my old vanilla carts, and I hear vanilla is considered a weak flavor.

Small suggestion, if I may! Get some of those small empty natural plastic dropper bottles, mix the juice that you like, put the rest in the refer. Works well for me.

defiant, i'll try that. so many people have said that they can 'refill instantly with no problems' that i'm amazed it's become such a chore, that has wrecked probably 5 cartos now.

the next 'batch' (which is soon, i'm at 4 right now) that i have to clean/refill i'll try these things out.

yes i did both ways rinsed with vodka / water than dry, and rince with vodka than dry with out the water the thing is i got two of the 20 ml in pg coke and doc pepper from their sale and any cart i put them in they taste ok but not like the cartos you buy pre filled.
i also bought the 5 ml bottles of coke and cowboy plus they comped me a bottle of coffee flavor in vg the coke is really weak, but the cowboy and coffee is just plain bad. i filled both ways drops and syrenge method and let some sit caped and some uncaped over night no good it is like the flavoring was left out and the vapor is really dry.
the carts always taste a bit sweet in the pg that is why i wanted to try the vg the are supposed to taste sweeter and the lower nic level is suposed to have better flavor this is not the case, the vg carts i bought did not taste like this, someone in another thred said the juice is suposed to smell like the flavor these have no smell to them im going to have to buy more pg juice to see if this was just a one time incadent or if i need to just get plain pg with out no vg in them at all
