First time making a coil

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I hope to get some answers... I've been vaping for about 2 years with pods and decided to go with a new RTA for mtl. I mainly vape tobacco e-liquids. So I bought 28Ga Ni80 for it, and tried to make a 0.8ohm with 6 turns with 2mm ID. The problem is that my box reads the resistance as 0.55ohm instead of the desired 0.8ohm... It seems like my coil is 26GA instead of 28!

Also I don't really know at this point which wattage to use, because if the coil is not what it's supposed to be, I can't rely on SteamEngine.. Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you!!!

Numbers! Oh my!

Add two wraps to the 6 wrap coil to get closer to your " number".

However, on a regulated device, resistance is of less importance.
Adjust the power for any build where it suits your vaping style and rebuildable. (air flow, chamber size, wicking rate, etc.)

Pro tip: mounting a coil is a task, wicking is an art.
ETA: start low, increase wattage as needed.

Welcome to ECF.

I'd make sure the posts screws are nice and snug (no need to go crazy tight though), and making good contact with the coil legs. If no joy, remove the legs and try again. If that doesn't help, time to add another wrap or two.

Welcome to ECF, federoss. Your mod says .6, and the Wizard says .7, but add a wrap or two if you want but like it's been said it really doesn't matter. Sometimes regulation is helpful and useful..

Thank you everyone! I've been trying to understand why the coil is different than expected, but as you said it really doesn't matter.. I'll try and add a wrap next time eheh! Also, I've been vaping Latakia lately, and while it tastes like "ash" in pods, i can't seem to taste anything other than "wood" in the RTA. May it be burnt cotton??

Some mods can be quirky with how they read resistance. Could also be mislabeled wire. Steam Engine isn't always completely accurate either.

May be, but Latakia's cured over burning hardwood, so a woody incense-like flavor is not unusual.
