I am know 30 days into vaping and love it, I am the type that likes to learn as much as I can about what I am doing so I am going to try and mix my own juice (LOL) I have only tried the V2 red and just love it does anyone have a reciepe that simulates the V2 red. Is there another site besides ecigexpress.com. Any help would be much appreciated
So new at this I think I will need
PG/VG 60mg-30ml (base)
Propylene Glycole (thinner)
Flavor-Unknowen

Hi, and welcome to the ECF.

You should head over to the DIY forum and read the stickies explaining pretty much everything there is to know about beginning mixing your own juice. Once you get 5 non-spam posts under your belt here, you'll also be able to post there.

Most importantly, read carefully all the warnings and stickies on that forum. Working with concentrated nicotine liquids is no joke - it's dangerous and it's easy to get yourself in trouble. Before anything else read this first.

Happy vapes.

Yep, do your homework before you even think about DIY.
And you can save a lot of money on your PG/VG and nicotine solution at wizardlabs.us
Their nicotine solution is high quality and half the price of most other places.
But don't even go there until you've done some research. You can download a juice calculator for free to play with in the meantime. I like ejuicemeup (google it) because it's easy and relatively simple to use, but there are others.

I don't want to jump the gun here, but you'll also have to think about two more things. I started with V2, and except for price and some false claims they make on their site, I don't anything bad to say about them. However, there are better options. And their flavors, honestly, are not even average.

First, your taste buds change as you vape and stay off smokes. You may end up enjoying completely different things that what you think you'll enjoy. There are thousands of juice flavors out there, probably more. It is worth exploring them with pre-made juices just so you get your bearings in the flavor department, and to wait until your taste fully recovers. It doesn't mean you can't start experimenting with DIY juice, this just something to consider.

Second, you'll need to think about a new setup, be it only because you can't really mix your own if you can't test flavors 'on the fly', and you can't really do that wihtout dripping. You could drip on a manual V2 unit, but not on the auto ones as juice will leak into the battery and kill it. And even so, dripping on a manual V2, which I tried hard, is a hassle.

Hope this helps - I'm not trying to discourage you. It's just that you there really are many options in vaping, and this is probably the right place to start exploring them!

Very good points indeed. You will probably read about it but start with just the PG\VG and flavors before adding the nicotine. Nicotine is probably the most expensive ingredient in your ejuices, depending on your level mixture. Congrats on your 30 day venture! Loving it is the first step and second is kicking the analogs completely, if you haven't done so already.

I second elfstones observations. If you're going to do DIY, you definitely need to be able to drip and you can't do that very well on an automatic battery. You need a manual battery and a decent dripping atomizer or three.

About the V2 Red, you can probably forget that. Recipes for proprietary juice formulas like Blu or V2 are notoriously hard to duplicate. You're about at the point of vaping where you should start considering other flavors anyway. I think the majority of vapers lose much, if not all, of their taste for tobacco within the first few months. I smoked for almost 40 years and it took all of 3 or 4 weeks before I wasn't the least bit interested in trying to duplicate what I smoked. That's just me, and YMMV, but even the people who still like vaping tobacco flavors have no delusions of trying to duplicate the flavor of a cigarette. Vaping is just too different. Besides, most of the fun of DIY is trying different flavors. The money saved is just a bonus.

I would agree with that in some respects, but nicotine has a definite effect on the final flavor and really needs to be accounted for. I started with making 0 nic juice because of the cost, but I was shocked when I found Wizardlabs and how incredibly inexpensive their nicotine is. It comes out to around $0.03-$0.05/ml, which is way cheaper than any of the flavors I use.

I had been getting 100mg because it was most economical. But when I found Wizard, I switched to using 24 and 36mg because there wasn't enough savings to justify the hassle and risks of dealing with 100mg. A little nicotine goes a long way, and at those prices I can afford to experiment with full strength ejuice.

After reading this thread, I downloaded the ejuicemeup calculator, but it still is a little confusing. I know there has to be information that addresses every aspect of DIY mixing somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it. I also bought a kit. Inside were things that I have never heard of (ethyl maltal) and I don't know what to do with them.

Where could I go to get the myriad of questions I have answered? For instance, the ejuicemeup has a spot for water/vodka/PGA. What's the purpose for this? How do I know what percentages are needed for the seperate ingredients? Because, before it can calculate, it needs me to enter in the percentages and I don't know what the right ones are.

I don't want to burden anyone with answering here because that's a lot of info to type out. If you could just point me in the right direction, I'm more than willing to do all the studying myself. Thank you.

There is a DIY forum here where the experts can answer all your questions. I do DIY myself with ejuicemeup, so I can give it a shot since you don't have enough posts to post in the DIY section yet.

Ethyl Maltol is a sweetner. You mix it with PG. It's super sweet, so you use it very sparingly. I don't use it myself, so I can't tell you how much to use, but you can find out in the DIY forum.

A lot of people use water and/or vodka to cut their juice with. The alcohol gives a little throat hit and the water thins it out, which is useful if you are using a high % of VG because maybe you have a low tolerance to PG.

The other fields are what you have if you have a nicotine base (at the top). Basically, you put in the % of VG and PG and nicotine you are starting out with, then you put in the percentage of PG/Vg and nic that you want to end up with, as well as the % of flavor you want to use, and hit "calculate". Then it tells you how much PG, VG and flavoring to add to what you already had.

Again, check out the DIY section and there'll be a full explanation. The guy who wrote the program is a member here and he's answered just about every question you can think of about the program.
