Just got my first order in and when I went to use it I got a funny taste. I have been doing a ton of research while waiting for my order to arrive and know that they sometimes ship with a primer fluid but that is not the issue.

I got an standard eGo battery and the longwick stardust clearomizers. I also got 3 juices that are 18mg and 24mg. When I first opened the package the wicks looked dry so I popped the tip off and filled them on an angle being very careful not to get any juice down the center hole. I also charged the battery fully before using. I started out with a mint chocolate chip flavor that is 24mg. The juice sat in the clearomizer for a good 30 minutes before I connected to the battery and gave it the first vape.

The initial taste was rather rancid and burned the throat/nose a bit. Am I mistaken in thinking the clearomizers don't have a primer fluid on them? When I popped one of the silicon caps off a fresh unfilled clearomizer to look at the coil it looked dry. I filled up each one of my 3 clearomizers with juice (each one a different flavor) and they all have a strange taste to them. None of the flavor is really coming through and if it does it is so mild that I almost wonder if my mind is making me taste it because I know what it SHOULD taste like.

Any ideas on what might be going on here? Is there a break in period on the stardust system before juice starts tasting like it should? I thought maybe it needed to steep or something but considering my order was shipped friday night and sat for two days in the post office and another day and a half on top of that before I got the order I would have figured a even freshly mixed batch of juice should be fairly well steeped with the travel time. Also considering they were out of certain mg levels of the flavors I wanted I doubt these were mixed to order.

Hoping to have some light shed on this. Thanks in Advance.

You might just be experiencing "dead tastebuds" that won't let you taste the juice too well. If so, this will go away as you stay off analogs. Also, I found that with clearos, a lot of times, the flavor can be muted. I don't use them very often anymore because of that and the tendency to give me burned tastes........ I switched to tanks but I have a Apollo LT and an original Lavatube with a Provari somewhere between Washington and Texas. never had an ego so I don't know if regular tanks will fit that but I think they may.. And color depends on what flavoring is used. I have some really dark juices and some that are nearly colorless.

Wondering if what I am picking up is that burny taste. I took the silicone cap off and looked at the wick/coil and don't see any sign of it being burnt though. Hoping it's just a lack of shaking. I am getting taste, just not a pleasant one LOL. So my tastebuds might be muted but they still work. Generally speaking is the taste of lets say an apple ejuice going to have the same strength as taking a bite of an apple or are the flavors of vaping mellower? Talking strickly in the strength of the flavor not the flavor itself.

It depends on the vendor you bought from. Some have better juices than others. I DIY but most have a vendor or two for hardware and maybe 5 for juices. As stated it may be your taste buds are messed up. Some vendors also offer extra flavoring in the juice if needed. If you thought finding a PV was tough multiply that by 10X in regards to juices. That's ONE of the reasons I DIY- can mix and match to my heart's content. Smokeless Image sells the highly regarded Volt but also admits their juices are not very good.

No it's very rare you'll find a juice that's comparable to the labeling- apple/ blueberry, etc. I just gave some strawberry to a friend who LOVES strawberry- thought it was very plain so I doubled the flavor- still wasn't pleased. Gave him some watermelon which he's not fond of and...he LOVES it. Go figure.

Try lifting up the silicon cap and drip 1 drop on the coil/ wick- try vaping that.

Tried that, taste was still there. Shook the bottle vigorusly and emptied the clearomizer and refilled with the vigorusly shook bottle. Same thing. Going to keep vaping it for a while and see if the taste improves, currently also steeping the liquids just in case. Maybe clearomizers just aren't my thing, will have to make do until I can get a tank system and some direct dripping stuff. Possibly some new eliquid as well.

It is possible that you just don't like the juice.

Yeah my next order I am getting some different flavors from a different brand. But that wont be until Friday that I place the order. Would hate to get sick of this juice and end up buying a pack of smokes, kind of a bummer intro to vaping. But I am determined to not give up on vaping, all the research I have done has taught me that sometimes your initial experience with vaping is not good and you are forced to run through some trial and error to find out what works for you.

Found this
"I just cleaned mine (newest version from GotVapes) for the first tie about an hour ago and now it tastes awesome again. I had the same experience with liguids getting dark and taste turning after . . . hmm, maybe four or five times refilling it when the tank got down to the last quarter or so. Just threw it in a bowl with hot water for a minute, put the cap back on and shook it, emptied by flicking, repeated two more times, then dry burned.

I have an eGo battery, and this how I dry burned - Cap off, looking down the center, hold the button down for three or four second, pause for a couple seconds, repeat. Took like twenty times before I could see the glow and steam rising. Then maybe 5 or 6 more of the same quick bursts. I filled it after just a few minutes, let it soak in for ten, then began vaping. It did take quite a few pulls before the flavor came back, but when it did it was clean and pure. May be better to let it dry for an hour or two if your not as impatient as I am."
and a very good vid for SD users. Note in the vid it's the V1 with short wick but procedure is still the same.

Some say to dry burn them before using, but I don't.
I also don't shake juices. Compounds need mixing, solutions don't. Once they're mixed they're mixed.

I do know that the first bottle of juice I ever bought had an aftertaste that was like siphoning someones gas tank. That flavor of juice still tastes that way to me. There is another brand of juice that tastes like over ripe peaches to me, regardles of the flavor, it's the sweetener that they use. The good news is that there are an abundance of juice makers to choose from. The bad news is that you have your very own set of taste buds. So what a flavor tastes like to me, may not be what it tastes like to you.

    Axident,

I agree with the last post from Vapoor Eyes--try dripping on the coil itself. I will comment, too, on the flavor of fruits like apple, pineapple. These flavors are mild, and generally as already stated, not much like the actual fruit taste. There is a whole thread in the juice forum about loving to eat one flavor and hating to vape it. It's remarkable how many people love vaping what they don't like to eat and vice versa. If you don't like menthol (or mint) analogs, for instance, try it in a vape...just a few drops (no more than 10% in your clearo) with the fruit and you'd be amazed at the results--at least I was.

    Happy Vaping
