First time Vaper..... couple questions.

Hello ECF !! Heres our back story.......

I started smoking in my sophomore yr in high school. Not because i thought it was "cool" but because my girlfriend was smoking. (parents smoked ) We would pay a senior buddy to buy them for us. Flash forward 5 yrs We were now married and talking about having a kid. Now that i had a FT job and house i was game for a kid. But there was ONE thing we needed to do. STOP SMOKING! So With the help of patches and the thoughts of a kid coming soon it wasn't that hard to quit. In a yr we had our Lil girl. 3yrs later we took a trip to see my mother in LA. And saw how cheap smokes were down there!! So we thought i wonder if we would get hooked again if we bought 1 pack.......... BAD IDEA!!

We have been smoking ever since. Now we had quit for about 7 yrs and were right back where we started............. Great. Been smoking for 2 yrs again and My wife has tried to talk me into quitting. I tried but gut so ornery she bought me a pack..... Felt like crap but smoked anyway. About a week ago a new store opened up in town. With a bright sign saying E-CIGG. Never been in a store like that before so the following Monday i decided id stop in. Nice set up he had and really nice guy. Answered all my questions and then told me to try some flavors! I've had an e-cigg before but they were the gas-station crap ones. So he picked a flavor for me and set it up. OMG !! It was tasty ! So after trying about 10 kinds. I decided that TODAY IS THE DAY ! No more cigarettes for us. Were getting a set up. Brought my wife back to the store and had him re-ramble everything to her. Then she tried Banana pudding. Looked at me and said are you sure? Yes i said Lets do this!

Now im on day 3 without a reg cigg. Well i tried a friends and it tasted like CRAP!8-o I liked smoking and never thought id think that they were Gross!

Heres our set up. 4 Vapor tech Batterys. (900 amp?) 1 Charger, 4 Atomizers And 5 bottles of All American E-juice.

Q's
No 1 Is it safe to vape in the house with my daughter around (4yrs old)
No 2 Does a Battery tend to Wind down or does it just quit working?
No 3 We tried some Grape flavor and it was good at the store but at home it's...... Harsh. Will having 20mg NIC make it that way? ( i think the testers are 0 Mg)

Welcome and congrats on making the switch...

No 1 Is it safe to vape in the house with my daughter around (4yrs old) - I vape around my kids, and they have no issues, although you'll want to do your own research to determine what you're comfortable with.
No 2 Does a Battery tend to Wind down or does it just quit working? They'll taper off, always keep a few extras... ALWAYS, and Extra chargers and atomizers too.
No 3 We tried some Grape flavor and it was good at the store but at home it's...... Harsh. Will having 20mg NIC make it that way? ( i think the testers are 0 Mg) - Very likely. Try diluting it with VG you can get from Wal-Mart, see if that helps a little.

Well Congrats on quitting analogs!!

1. Their hasn't been a lot of research that I am aware of but it is just water vapor so no true secondhand smoke like cigarettes that have all of the other harsh chemicals.
2. I have ego batteries that are 2 years old and they still work perfect as long as you take care of them.
3. Yes it can be harsh with the higher levels of nicotine that you use.

I kinda wish we started at a lower dose.... I mean 20 was recommended by some people as a good place to start from. (smoked about 3/4 a pack a day each.)

I might get some Nic free stuff and try diluting it. Any tables/advice as to how much Nic free juice to add to the 20 mg?

And thanks ! Im allready starting to feel better ! And i cant believe that a reg cigg tasted that bad.

My opinion is that it is much much safer but in the end it is up to you and your wife to decide on this one.

I am not familiar with your battery but if it like an Ego battery it will put out a consistent voltage until it tells you that it needs recharging. As the battery ages it will likely give you less puffs between charges until it no longer wants to charge up well anymore. Usually a year give or take a couple months.

If you purchased a juice that is much newer than the one you tested in the store it may get better in time.

i smoked about the same amount of cigarettes as you (3/4 of a pack a day) i get 18mg or 1.8% nicotine level its not harsh to me but its all about your preference. also it could be because your not used to vaping yet i know when i started it was a bit harsh but still preferred the harshness over regular cigs. another reason could be the company that makes your liquid uses primarily PG (propylene glycol) most company's use more PG than VG i use a 60/40 VG/PG mixture in my liquids it produces more vapor and its not harsh so maybe ask the supplier if they have different levels of PG in different juices. (sorry if this is too much to take in as a newbie just ask if you need anything explained more) hope this helps and good luck!

its not water vapor, its vg and pg vapor and some flavorings not a huge difference but there are some pg/flavorings allergies out there to be aware of. knowledge is power

Found out what the PG/VG mix is...I started off with 18mg, now I'm down to 12mg.

Your grape juice may need to be steeped. Remove the top from the juice bottle and let it sit in a cool dark place for a few days. Some juices need steeping others are good as mixed. When buying juice always ask about steping for that particular juice.
Buy you fav juices in larger quantities. It's cheaper that way. Also ordering on-line is much cheaper than local shops. But samples or small qty before buying larger sizes.
Add a drip atomizer to your collection of tanks and batteries. Atomizer - SmokTech - 510 - ECBlend to use when sampling juice. 3-4 drops vapes 6-12 draws, rinse with vodka/everclear (4-5 drops), blow out to clean, good-to-go for the next sample. This saves having to clean tanks.
After a few tanks your atomizers will require maintenance. Cleaning the tank is generally - rinse with hot water. If you still smell the juice, do it until you don't
Buy replacement atomizer heads (take your tank(s) with you so you get the correct one(s)) or clean them.
This maintenance will keep your tanks vaping merrily along.

Our tanks are not rebuild-able.... In time ill get diff one's.

So steeping ....... How long should i let it sit open in a cool dark place ? 1Day, 3 days ?

Anyone know of a good online store that has a sample pack for cheap ? Id like to try other brands! And as were new a place that dosnt need the juice steeped. Were not into cigg flavors. Just fruit and "treats" .

Might be a good idea. I remember starting at 12mg and wax smoking. 2 packs a day.
