Hello everyone, I'm a first-time vaper from Canada. I'd heard about e-cigs from an acquantance online and researched them thereafter. This is the first forum I've found and I'm happy to see how active it is. Excuse this wall of text from a new poster, but please try to give me some insight.

Totally Wicked was the site I first tried ordering from and it was the site that told me Health Canada had banned e-cigs, which I verified with Health Canada. After telling my work associates about my quest for e-cigs, someone mentioned that a local paraphenalia shop sold them. The brand they sold was Smoke NV, a nicotineless product, in order to appease Health Canada. I purchased this kit and was sorely disappointed.

The "Canadian tobacco" flavour advertised smelled sweet but tasted of nothing and felt like nothing; no throat hit. The three cartridges ran out in maybe what 3 traditional cigarettes would give you. Searching for reviews of this brand online including in this forum, I was lead to lists of Canadian e-cig vendors like Happy, Nicfitnation, and Vapables.

Because Nicfitnation offered a large amount of information, including its proprieter's own video reviews and instructional videos, I chose to order from them. I've placed an order as of yesterday with:

eGo starter kit w/ XL atomizers
3x 10ml sample pack (RR tobacco 24mg, applewood/peachwood tobacco 18mg)
USB passthrough battery
XL LR atomizer

It came to about $175 total - as you can see I wasted no time when deciding future products I'll probably want.

Today I received RY4 30ml I ordered from Vapables a few days ago, and I figured I'd refill the cartomizers that came with the Smoke NV brand. I probably did it incorrectly, using a 1cc (1ml) needle filled with liquid to refill one cart, and about half that for another cart. I did it crudely, and it was difficult to push the syringe into the polyfill of the cart. The first cart I tried was the half filled, which made a bubbly sound as if it were flooded and immediately I tasted a delicious flavour on my tongue that immediately turned to burning and realized I had sucked through some liquid. I washed out my mouth and tried the fully filled cart.

To my surprise it didn't bubble nearly as much (odd because it was the fully filled). I didn't taste anything and didn't have to suck long at all; but there was no pleasant flavour, only an incredible burn in my throat. I can barely take the tiniest puff without not wanting to anymore. I'm smoking an analog while typing this.

Once again I'll have to put down this Smoke NV brand and wait for my eGo to come in; what I'm asking is will I have a pleasant time with my eGo? Is it just this crap brand of e-cig that's making this unpleasant? Perhaps I got a bad liquid (though it tasted good when I fulfilled the rite of passage)? I'm worried the nicotine levels are too high; though I'm a regular smoker (a carton per two weeks). If this is the case then the 3x 10ml sampler I got would also kill me.

From all of the reviews I've read I am not worried; though I've also read on your forum that people experience loss of breath, burning throat, and other negative effects. It's making vaping seem less appealing, as I work a fairly physical job and while smoking doesn't do that, I've read that long-time vapers are giving up because they're using puffers now and never had to before.

Thank you for your time and I hope you guys can put me at ease and make me a full-time vaper!

I am by no means an experienced vaper. I can only give you what my experiences were.

My wife wanted to quit and we saw a cart at the local mall with the E-Cigs. They promised us magical things out of the product. The reality is a lot like what you experienced and we gave up on them in a matter of 2-3 days.

Around a month later my wife had another caughing fit and I had had enough. We started using them again and I began researching ways to make them work better. I found ECF and was amazed by the helpful people and information here. around a week of research and we ordered a KR808 set. The difference was amazing but... i no longer expected miracles either.

I think this is where you are at, or will be soon. The eGo is a nice PV my wife owns one. I still would rather use my KR808 but thats mostly personal.

Expect some up and downs... sometimes juice is great.. sometimes it tastes like a foot. Sometimes its the same juice that goes through that change. The burnt taste is usually either the cart or the atomizer or the cartomizer if you use that type. If it takes burnt.. dont use it. Look up cleaning and maintinance and see if you can clear out the burnt flavor... if not... toss it and move on.

Get extra peices. Batteries cometimes die prematurely but usually you dont need more then one extra. Atomizers/cartridges/cartomizers all can come in already bad so make sure and get more then you think you may need, since you are willing to spend a little extra money for this... you should be ok.

Take it slow... no need to go cold turkey. If you quit just 1 extra cig a day with the help of the personal vaporizor then you can consider it a plus. Sooner or later you will find the juice... the PV... and the techniques to keep them running the way you like.

Its a new hobby... still some growing pains but you are already doing great with finding ECF. Lots of fantastic info here.

EDIT. After re-reading wanted to be specific on a few things.

Carts vary in size. The mall bought ones lasted about what you found as well... 3-5 cigs worth and that was if it did not taste horrible to begin with. I know the TW ego style holds more then that. I would say you can get about 6-7 cigs worth depending on how you vape it. The mega ones hold a very large amount of juice by comparison.

I work as a telephone repair tech so I am climbing ladders, climbing poles, in pits splicing cable,e tc. I can easily breath better with the PV then I was with the cigs. I dont know of people that are long term vapers having to use an inhaler and I would be suprised if that is accurate as in truth most of the nicotine (maybe all i dont know) gets absorbed in the mouth and only the VG/PG gets taken into the lungs. Long term tests are still a bit off however so no promises.

Well....here's what I can tell you...and it's not really going to answer every question, probably. I love my eGo. I have no trouble with it, but I've been using it for several months now and maybe I've just ironed out all the kinks. Actually, I never really had any trouble with it, but there is a learning curve to vaping in general and I guess I'd consider myself an "old timer" at this point. The nic level on your juice sounds about right. At least you got two different levels. That's good. The mega atomizers....I've tried them and I actually prefer the 510 regular ones or a regular 510 cartomizer. But you may just love them. They hold LOTS of liquid. I think you will LOVE your eGo and that you'll enjoy vaping. Don't give up. This forum is an excellent source of information and support so when you get your stuff, come back and ask questions and/or tell us how it's going.

What's a puffer? An inhaler? I never heard of that....about long-term vapers. I HAVE heard that long-term smokers die of lung cancer.....

Welcome to ECF and congrats on ordering the eGo, it is my best friend. Vaping is a whole new way of life for me and also a great hobby. I will be 3 months free of cigarettes tomorrow and that is the longest I have been without one in 33 years and don't even crave them anymore. I don't know where you read that about people needing inhalers from vaping but it simply isn't true. I breath easier then I have in years. As for the ry4, it may be just a flavor you don't like, many people like it a lot, I can't stand the taste of it, it makes me gag. Try it again with you eGo just to be sure it wasn't the pv you are using now, if you still don't like it, try one of your other flavours. Be sure to read the stickies in the new members forum, especially the library. It will tell you how to blow out your atomizers and how to fill your cartridges and such and if you have any more questions just ask. Happy vaping!!

I've been vaping for a little over two months now and have only experienced good things health wise. I can run...RUN...up a flight of stairs without getting winded and breaking out in a sweat for the first time in years. This is the time of year when I have the most problems with getting sick and I haven't had more than a slightly stuffy nose. My doctors are incredibly happy and supportive that I've made the switch. I think you'll be very happy with the eGo and with vaping. Just take your time. You'll find that "sweet spot" with the flavors that you really like and a vaping style that suits you best. There's no need to hurry and don't be afraid to experiment. I'm still experimenting with juice and cartos.

Thanks for the replies everyone, this reassures me a lot more about my choice.

As for the post I read about needing a puffer... it was actually in the health section of this forum like Kabonk mentioned. It states that the lifelong (30+ years if I remember correctly) smoker switched to vaping and loved it and now at the end of a year of vaping has decided to quit vaping as well, due to the fact his lungs tighten up and his throat hurts even to inhale air. He doesn't promote not trying or quitting e-cigs, he just states that is the reason he is quitting but still recommends the product since it got him that far which is much better than staying on analogs.

The replies I've read now assure me it is not like that in every case and I'm glad to hear everyone can run again. This is very good news to me.

Smoked for 10 years, vaped for a month. Talk about a difference! I work in construction and am very physical, I leave the smokers in the dust! even the non-smokers too! Its a little nerve racking making the switch but just get enough juice, an extra atty and a pcc and a pt and youll never regret the switch from those nasty cancer sticks. Expect life changing events...and Everyone asking what your "smoking"
