Hi. I'm planning on jumping into the PV thing so I've been doing a ton of research. After reading I think the Dura/510 sounds good for me. reviews seem to say it resembles more of a real cigarette. Good pulls, hotter vapor, good amount of vapor, etc. So now onto my questions

1) I realize there are lots of Dura, 510, Titan, Yeti cigs out there. Does it really matter which one I get? Do they differ that much?
2) Are parts interchangeable between Dura, 510, Titan, Yeti, etc?
3) What are the benefits of the manual switch?
4) I smoke about 1 pack/day. How many batteries/atomizers/carts should I have?
5) If I get the PCC and extra batteries, I basically shouldn't have to worry about running out of puffs right?
6) I smoke USA Gold Full Flavor 100's. Any recommendation for liquid?
7) Dependant on the answer to question #1, what site is my best bet for quality and price? I'm from the US.

I know thats a lot of questions and I appreciate any help guys. I looked around a lot but couldn't get concrete answers on these questions. I'm anxious as hell to try this so I almost bought tonight but decided some added info would be better. Thanks.

Doesn't matter - they're pretty much the same just with different names. The difference would be who gives the better warranty.

2) Are parts interchangeable between Dura, 510, Titan, Yeti, etc?

All 510 parts are interchangeable. I have a Dura-C from Janty and also the 510 from eastmall.net. The only difference is the eastmall 510 has a higher set button - which I like better. But these 510 models are interchangeable.

3) What are the benefits of the manual switch?

Warmer vapor, more vapor, better throat hit. Some suppliers offer auto-switch 510 models but that just defeats the purpose for which you buy it if you're looking for more vapor and a quality consistent throat hit.

4) I smoke about 1 pack/day. How many batteries/atomizers/carts should I have?

You're vaping experience will be different than your smoking experience, so that's hard to say. Best to stock up.

5) If I get the PCC and extra batteries, I basically shouldn't have to worry about running out of puffs right?

You're right - but get the 510 passthrough, too. Then you will never need to worry about charging or changing batteries. The passthrough is especially good when you're doing sedentary tasks or just watching TV.

6) I smoke USA Gold Full Flavor 100's. Any recommendation for liquid?

You'll probably have to experiment with finding the flavor that's right for you.

7) Dependant on the answer to question #1, what site is my best bet for quality and price? I'm from the US.

There's a supplier thread in the Joye 510 forum that lists USA suppliers. Ruyandirect.com and eastmall.net right now have the best prices, but they're in China. However, it only takes 7 - 10 days to get orders.

I know thats a lot of questions and I appreciate any help guys. I looked around a lot but couldn't get concrete answers on these questions. I'm anxious as hell to try this so I almost bought tonight but decided some added info would be better. Thanks.

Hope this helps
Good luck!!

all those you listed are 510s, just different names you now, each supplier calls it there own thing.

if you like the 510, which is more of a "veteran" PV, then check out the dse901, about the same price and through one supplier you get 2 for about 50 bucks in the starter kit, same with the 510. i would say get the 901 and the 510.

Bugmenot, I got my 510 (Yeti) about 10 days ago and haven't smoked an analog since then so I think it's a good choice. I wish I had bought the 510 first!

Anyway, Mamu covered it all very well, but I wanted to add that I used to smoke pack a day (sometimes more) of USA Gold Full Flavor. At first, I didn't like ANY of the flavors....didn't really care for the fruity ones and all the tobacco flavored ones tasted too sweet or something. But eventually I just kept trying different ones and now even ones that I didn't like at first, I do like now.

I'd suggest getting small samples of any flavor you think you might possibly like and trying them all. Get different tobacco flavors, too. If you don't like it at first, don't dump it. Just put it away and try it again in a week or so.

I've settled on Flue Cured from e-smokeyshack because it doesn't seem to have any sweetness to it which I like. But, really, none of the tobacco flavors I've tried taste like an analog...but some actually taste better.

Good luck! I think you've love your 510, especially with the manual switch!

After considering everyones replies (thanks!), I've been going a bit insane trying to find the best place to buy. I'd rather a US supplier so as to save on shipping and receive faster. But primarily I want to get the 510 starter kit along with a sampler of liquids. 10ml of each flavor amounts to a lot, no? Not to mention the cost if I don't like it. Ideally I'd like to get a sampler of 3ml bottles. I can't seem to find one place that has everything I want in stock, for a reasonable price and delivery time. AH! Any suggestions guys?

1) I realize there are lots of Dura, 510, Titan, Yeti cigs out there. Does it really matter which one I get? Do they differ that much?

Doesn't really seem to matter much. The original parts are made the same place, and are merely branded differently. Probably at the factory itself.

2) Are parts interchangeable between Dura, 510, Titan, Yeti, etc?

Yes. Only in one bizarre circumstance where I received a 510 atomizer that didn't have two air holes that the usual ones have (and I'm thinking it was a manufacturers defect rather than a branding issue) I've had zero issues mixing and matching.

3) What are the benefits of the manual switch?

If you "drip" e-liquid either onto the atomizer, or into your cart, you won't have to worry about it getting into a sealed battery and ruining it. By the very nature of an automatic battery, there has to be a hole in it for the airflow sensor to "automatically" turn on the juice when you inhale. Otherwise, some automatic batteries are very sensitive and turn themselves on when lightly jostled or looked at cross-eyed.

4) I smoke about 1 pack/day. How many batteries/atomizers/carts should I have?

Batteries:

On the few days, as a prior (two) pack a day smoker when I soloed with the 510, I literally had to swap batteries five times in a day. Granted, this isn't such a big deal with your standard 510 kit because I've rarely seen it take longer than an hour to completely recharge a dead battery, and the charged battery lasts well over an hour. YMMV. If you use a PCC (battery recharging carry case) this is very easy, but prefer to go the "have a recharger everywhere" route as that means I don't have to carry anything but the 510. Charger with spare battery at home, at work, and in the car. Wherever I am, I have a spare battery ready, and a charger ready to take the dead one.

Carts:

I've been using the same carts in all my e-cigs forever. I drip the carts. So for me it's more about keeping a 10ml dripper bottle with me to top off my carts.

Atomizers:

I always have one spare on me just in case, and I always keep three total per device and replace dead ones the same day they die (In theory). I have not had an atomizer die yet.

5) If I get the PCC and extra batteries, I basically shouldn't have to worry about running out of puffs right?

Yes

6) I smoke USA Gold Full Flavor 100's. Any recommendation for liquid?

Being familiar with the brand, I'd suggest Ruyan Kent. I'd suggest starting out with a middle of the road nicotene amount like 18mg.

7) Dependant on the answer to question #1, what site is my best bet for quality and price? I'm from the US.

Everyone is going to have their personal bias. Mine now is that having an LED on the end of the battery is silly, because it's not really there for me. It's there for other people. I'm not too keen on the device actually looking like a cigarette. I like the Dura-C. I will however say that Janty has been VERY SLOW shipping these lately, so I'd look for the kit through a reseller, and verify they have them in stock with a phonecall. I got mine from digitalcigs.com. Couldn't be happier with the speed of shipping and communication.

Hope This Helps

Did you check the links I gave yet? Many of these also have juice: (this is a direct link to a speciifc post, not 'read entire thread')

10ml really isn't much, you're going to have issues trying to find less than that *and* a single place that has 510 + PCC, etc. Either order a few 10mls, or search on 'samplers,' but most only stock 10 or 15ml and 30ml.

Well I guess I'll have to compromise! Seems a lot of places are out of stock at the moment, although plenty of choices. Wegster, your links were incredibly helpful, thanks. Widow Beads looked good. Great price and excellent reviews on shipping, product, etc. but they're out of stock at the moment. As far as liquid goes, I'll shop around separately for a nice sampler. Maybe at Ruyan as you suggested Zofryer. Like you, I'd rather not have the LED, and if I had to, I'd rather the orange. Blue, purple, white LED's? I'd feel like a schmuck holding it, no offense to those of you who own them. :p I suppose though that if I end up with an LED model, simply changing the battery to a non-LED would suffice.

So I think for my first run here I'm gonna pick up a manual 510 kit, an extra battery and atomizer, some empty carts and a sampler of liquid. Once I try it all out, if I like it I'll go back and stock up on batteries, carts, liquid, PCC, car charger, passthrough and on and on and on. Heh.

Thanks again to everyone. Outstanding helpfulness.

 Green LED's ROCK! The different colored LED's are nice because people won't as easily mistake them for analogs and are less likely to complain about them.

Haaahaaa. You'll get over that though. We all go into vaping with our own ideas of what an e-cig should look like, but after doing it a while you probably won't care what LED color you have as long as you really like what you are vaping on! I have non-LEDS, and LEDs of every color available. It's gotten to the point where I pay no attention to it. :)

By the way, you have made a very good choice with the 510. Enjoy it !!

    I just ordered a backup 510 kit from CigTechs.com

Great guy, good prices, and fantastic customer service! If his website shows out-of-stock, email him, or PM me for his number. He probably has one lying around somewhere... Thats what happened for me at least. He even swapped out the blue LEDs that come with the starter kit, for green ones.

Ruyan has low prices, but shipping is slow, and they don't offer the USB passthrough, and will not offer the PCC for at least a week or 2.

My advice: See Chris at CigTechs, get a full kit, with a car charger, and a USB passthrough. (If you have a DC/USB adapter, like for an iPhone, you never need to waste batteries while you drive!)

I'm down from a pack a day of Lucky Strikes, to about 2 (cigs), mostly for nostalgia.
The less you smoke, the better the vapor will taste. I use Hilton. and just put an order in with NuVape.com - they have 3ml sampler bottles for $2. A fair price any day of the week.

    Welcome to the club!

Isn't it nuvape.com that has a bunch of 3ml samples?

Also, to me it would be far more important to have extra atomizers than batteries. There's a learning curve with these things and atomizers are the weak link. I'd definitely get at least 3 or more extra if you can.

Might also want to check to see if buying 2 kits is more economical than just buying extra parts. Even so... get extra atomizers!
