What's up! This is nothing to write home to the fam about. Just standard business of protecting our fans. There's been some fishy smelling stuff going on. It's probably not your fault, one of those big tobacco monkey suite wearing peeps trying some funny fraudulent looking stuff to your account or you need to tell grandma to sit lady like.

In order to further protect your account and to alleviate any possible future headaches with your purchases we need you to verify some simple yet vital financial account details to insure that you can continue to enjoy your the PSV experience. Follow the following link to verify that you're not the one that smells funky.

It's cool tho, we're gonna hook your up with a free 30oz bottle of our Pink Spot Vapors liquid to remind you that we love ya.

I've never bought anything from Pink Spot but was considering it after reading about their swagger juice.
I was on the site today looking at the juice, prices etc. and signed up for the newsletter and almost immediately got the scam email.
I occasionally get scam emails trying to get me to click links for fake banks, fake PayPal, you name it! sigh

I received the email twice, with different links to click.

Yes, me too... the 2nd one was an "update" to the first one. I forwarded it to ejuice @ pinkspotvapor. com and asked if I should unsubscribe from their newsletter to stop getting the phishing email.
I didn't get a response but then I didn't expect one lol.

I didn't get the email. Pretty upset because I really want a 30 oz bottle of juice for free. Just my luck though, first I still haven't heard back from that nice gentleman in Africa who works for the embassy and had me send him money to verify my account so he could send a large sum of money to me and now I am left out of this deal. :(

I received the email today. I have bought from Pink Spot in the past. I'm curious if their client database was hacked? (I saw the question asked earlier). If so, is any other personal information at risk?

That is a good question to ask of Pink Spot. I would think they would gladly answer you so you could
#1: put your mind to rest
or
#2: take steps to monitor / protect your financial info

What if it was Pink Spot pretending to be a scammer pretending to be Pink Spot?

I'm not kidding. Who else would have their email database? Why target a small e juice vendor?

Did they mass email all their customers warning of this, or just put the announcement on their site (CYA/plausible deniability)?

That was my concern when I first read it. I explained earlier that I narrowly escaped something similar thanks to my bank but while the company was reputable, one of its employees was a crook and got my personal info and used it to make a $5000.00 purchase on the net. The employee was part of a ring of thieves. So, while Pink Spot owners might be honest, it only takes one bad employee with access to the files... in this case probably email. Even the largest companies have had employees get customer info. Employees are more of a problem than outside hackers are. That's why I said I would get to the bottom of it and move on to another vendor if I couldn't.

Obviously whoever hacked their list of customers do NOT have the financial info or there would be no need to fish for it. If you have a vendor that you have to enter your credit card number each time you order, they do not keep that info stored. That protects you and them. The credit card is being processed by a third party secure site.

From what I understand and the timing of the warning on their site, they were unaware of what happened until it was brought to their attention by someone that received the fishy email. Since the email in question mentioned the owners by name (pretending to be them) I would say it was someone within their ranks that attempted to pull this off. Might even be a disgruntled ex-employee. Who knows for sure? Stuff like this happens all the time with businesses, it just so happens that this might be the first time in this particular community.

I wouldn't stop using a vendor just because someone got their customer list, I would stop using a small company where my credit card info was stored and I didn't have to re-enter the info all the time.

Pink Spot replied with the answer that their email service provider, which is a site service to manage newsletters, got hacked.

This is also a good possibility
