Flashlight Mod questions

I made a flashlight mod and am having problems with it.

I bought a flashlight from the flea market for $1.00. took the female connector from an old dead tornado battry (510 atomizer) and connected it all up. I am using 3 AAA batteries and it is at 4.4 volts. I tested the volts at the female connector and it said 4.4 volts. It will not create much vapor. In order to make it 4.4 volts i had the put each of the positive ends of the batteries to the springs in the battery thing that came with the flashlight ie. put them in backwards...upside down.

Why wont it create much vapor?

Is it because im using cheap AAA bateries?

Those batts can't put out enough current, even 3 Ni-Mh aaa's won't, 4 would, but won't fit in the light... The Ni-Zn batts look promising for 2-3aaa mods, but the aaa's aren't on the market yet... You'll just about have to get an 18500 Li-Ion batt (protected of course)...

RS doesn't sell 'em... Even most 'battery stores' haven't heard of them.... You'll probably have to buy online....
