Help with flashlight mod

Ok so i have the flashlight all set up and everything. I have the 901 battery connector from nerf that i am going to use.

I figured i could just wire it into the circuit board from the flashlight that connects back to the battery holder just to make it a little easier.

I am also using the original grounding method from the flashlight as well with the end cap/button touching the negative end onto the flashlight body.

Had it all hooked up and looked right to me but not getting anything.

Using one 10440 aaa battery in the original battery holder that it came with..

I just cant fiure it out, everything is making contact where it should be so i dont see why its not getting power.

Please help this is very frustrating.

Do you have a voltmeter? Are you getting any voltage at all to the connector?

Yea i checked but there is nothing.

Sketch your mod w/ wiring and I'll see if theres anything that sticks out or could be a weak point thats failing.

Slowly test each part with the volt meter- for resistance.

Spring where + battery connects to before the switch.

Before the switch to after the switch and so on..

wait- 1 aaa battery???? will not power the atty I don't think!
you need an 18500 or 2 cr2's and a schedual 40 sleeve to put them in.

Just to clarify, what do you mean when you say you are using one 10440 battery in the original holder? Do you mean that you have a single 10440 in one of those 3xAAA cylinders? Because if that's what you mean, that's your problem right there. Those are set up in serial, and having only one battery means it's not going to connect. You'd need to put dummy batteries in the other two slots, or just solder wires where the batteries would have gone.

A single 3.7v 10440 will work fine, but yes an 18500 would work much better.

Wait, original battery holder, is this a magnum? If you're putting 1 battery in the 3 battery holder and not bridging the other 2 empty contacts with wire then you won't get any connectivity at all.

Just a hunch...If you are using a flashlight with the round insert made to ohld 3 AAA batteries, I think your problem is that the battery holder is not designed to work without all 3 cells installed. You will have to jumper the + and - sections where the other two batteries would go to complete the circuit.

the wires are soldered onto that circuit board. negative is right on the edge where there is a ring going all around it then it is pushed against an aluminum piece that screws onto the body.

i unscrewed the battery connector and moved it so only 1 battery needs to make the contact.

You need to slowly check each little part for continuity. If you go through it piece by piece you'll find where it is failing.

I don't see any mention of a switch other than the original in the end cap. If so check that with a meter and also look at the threads on the end cap. sometimes the coating completely covers the thread and doesn't ground properly.
I would also replace that 10440 with a normal AA cell while you're testing as if there is a short somewhere you could blow the 104408-o
Last thing, if that is the only switch it is probably a clicky on /off switch. Not good for this kind of thing as it could be accidently left on

there is a momentary switch i picked up from radio shack. i will definitely check everything one by one tonight when i get home tonight with a voltmeter. If i cant figure it out from there i will post tomorrow.

If everything is working and you are still getting nothing.... I suspect your atty is not making contact with the battery connector.

Try prying it up just a tad. Carefully please. Either that or try the stapler MOD. You can also put a dab of solder on the center of the battery connector.

its the battery holder try putting 3 AAA battery in it it will work. if your only useing oneit will not work.
