well, I made the rookie mistake of not paying attention to what I ordered and accidentally ordered ripe strawberry concentrate flavor. Needless to say my strawberry pancake flavor tasted aweful. So how do I dilute a concentrate? I know I could look on the internet, but I trust this site more. I have never received bad advice on this forum, so I am going to the reliable source. Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure I'm following you here. Do you wish to tame your strawberry pancake mix or the actual concentrate. If it's the latter, I personally wouldn't recomend doing that, I'd just use less of it. You could however, make a separate dilution of the concentrate and use that instead of the actual flavoring if you feel it is just too strong to be used as is.

What percentages did you use for your recipe?

If it's your juice you want to dilute (I am assuming, since you said that it was a bad vape when mixed) the simplest way to do so (IMO) is to buy some unflavored at the exact same nicotine percentage and PG/VG mix, and just start adding it to your overflavored e-juice, 5 or 10 ml at a time, shake, taste, etc. To me, this is the easiest way-- it avoids math and having to use an e-juice calculator AND your own math by trying to dilute in the right percentage of nic, pg and vg separately every time. You may find yourself adding more pancake flavor as you go if the strawberry remains totally dominant. Usually, that wouldn't be a huge amount, and it wouldn't be enough for me to worry about the nicotine level, I mean, I can't imagine you'd be adding more than 1 or 2 percent of it.

That is how I would approach it, but there are other ways to do so. I do think this might be the easiest way however.

If you are talking about the strawberry concentrate itself? I am in agreement with other posters about just using less of it next time.

Live and learn, but I think you can most probably fix this mix. I DIY and I have yet to make a flavor that was unvapable--- AFTER modifying it some.

Good luck!

Sorry for the confusion, yes just the concentrated strawberry.

I used a total of 16% flavor with 5% being the ripe strawberry. I used a recipe from a site, and it got good reviews, but the bitterness of the strawberry was just killing everything else. I steeped for 2 weeks. I tried cutting it with some VG and more pancake, but just threw it away. On the Bull City website, it says to dilute the concentrates, so I thought I’d ask. I’ll just use very small amounts and add if needed. Not a big deal, I’m not out a lot of money by ditching it. Just wanted to know.

I mixed it for 3mg of nicotine (100% pg) 8% FA pancake, 5% FA ripe strawberry and 3% FA maple syrup. The only substitution I made was the ripe strawberry brand and maple syrup brand, which I just didn’t have on hand so I used FA instead of the suggested brands, the rest, was 100% VG, in a 30ml bottle.

cool cool, so that is what you made.
FA tends to behave a bit differently than other brands.

What was the original recipe? What brands did you NOT have?

Cheers

Maybe I can help. On the Bull City website, the statement: "This is concentrated flavoring and must be diluted before use!" I believe this statement is intended to inform the user/mixer, that the flavor identified, is best used in small (percentage or whatever) dosages when mixing with other DIY ingredients. Implies that the mix is not vapeable on it own without mixing with other ingredients.
The mix is most likely unsalvageable.
Your experience is telling me that 5% strawberry may be too much for you, could remake with less than 5%.
" I mixed it for 3mg of nicotine (100% pg) 8% FA pancake, 5% FA ripe strawberry and 3% FA maple syrup. "
Did not know FA had a ripe strawberry.
Might want to slow down.

Is it TFA and not FA? I can't find a FA versions of ripe Strawberry. Found this on TFA Ripe Strawberry....Have never used it but this sounds reasonable. 3%. I usually use the Real flavor superconcentrate for strawberry flavor at around 1.5%.

TFA STRAWBERRY (RIPE)
This is one of my favorite strawberries to use. It's a lighter, more backend, and calm, strawberry flavoring that doesn't sit too far in front. This means it works great with creams, bakeries, vanilla's, and anything with a nice thick base. The best way to explain the flavor is that it turns any recipe you're creating into a "pink" flavor. It doesn't hold much actual strawberry flavor, but it does lend it's strawberry sweetness and properties. Best used at 3% on the low and 6-10% on the high. Anything more and you run the risk of over-Maltol'ing.

Agree, FA doesn't have a Strawberry Ripe. I suspect the confusion lies in the way TFA decided to label their bottles, going with a capital "F" lower case "a".

FA doesn't have Pancake either. @Bayou14 is it Flavour Art or The Flavor Apprentice? Makes a big difference in %s usually.
