Hi from a DIY Newbie :)

Just started DIY a couple of weeks ago with mixed success. I have definitely been getting better in the last mixing sessions though.

I have also been struggling to get completely off analogs again. A tobacco flavor at a higher nic mg helped me stay off my record 4 days a few weeks ago so I want to create one to stave off that craving creature that has been stalking me.

I tried a tobacco base from PA and was not impressed. I just ordered 2 Flavorart tobacco flavorings from ecigexpress ( Oba Oba and Mellow).

I am a bit confuzzled though. I have found with various flavorings I have used a percentage of 15-30% flavorings to get results or near results of what I was looking for, but these flavorings on the website recommend starting out at 1%?

Never tried Flavorart before and my tobacco flavoring experience is extremely limited. Is that quite right? I would like to mix up some Thursday night after work when I my flavorings are expected to be delivered so I can let it steep a day to help with those Friday night/weekend cravings (they are the worse).

Any suggestions or past experience tobacco flavoring/Flavorart hints/help would be appreciated.

Thank you :)

One drop of flavoring is approximately 0.03 mL, so 1 drop in 3 mL of juice would be about 1%.

I suggest beginning with two small batches, one at 2% and one at 4%. Then you can try both to see which is closer to your taste.

Tobacco flavors seem to need the most steeping time, so don't be disappointed if the flavor isn't well developed after only 24 hours. It helps to keep the bottles warm and shake them once in a while.

I don't use the drop method of flavoring. I tried but it seemed not to be too precise. Sometimes I would get big drops then followed by smaller drops out of a dropper bottle. I have been using pipettes and syringes to try and measure exactly in case I get a "keeper" juice so I can make it again exactly.

I am hoping to mix the mellow tobacco flavor with some cherry and/or vanilla I got from ecigexpress' Signature flavors. Their maraschino and black cherry are the best cherry flavors I have found yet in flavorings. (Taste being subjective of course). Was thinking some white chocolate flavoring I have as well and maybe some maple too if the cherry and vanilla work well.

Yes I have been busy ordering flavorings...:)

Flavorart is expensive but when they had the $3.99 option I had to try them.

A vendor told you 30%?

I was going to try 20% at first but when reading the description they said 1%. Now all flavorings seem to say they are "super duper" concentrated but I can't imagine using 1% or 2% of any of them and get any flavoring. That is why I asked.

When I order from vendors tobacco flavors they are usually good enough out of the box so I was hoping 24 hours would be a vapeable start. If they get better with age so much the better for me.

Wow. I am sorry to hear that. I have experimented 30% flavoring in a couple of recipes but then again I like strong flavored juices. Usually around 20-25% for me though with the few concoctions I have tried so far.

I think we all are trying to copy the tastes of juices we have tried before trying DIY. Nothing wrong with that. Most vendors sell the flavorings they use to make a profit too.

What did he think you were going to do, copy his juice and take over the world? :)

Let me preface this by noteing I like strong flavoring...

My lowest FA tobacco mix is 5% flavoring. My highest is just over 15% flavoring.

Start where you'd like, but don't be afraid to go higher. Some tobacco flavorings have one taste at lower percentages and a completely different taste at higher percentages.

If you have enough bottles, you may want to try 4 batches at 2, 4, 8, & 16% of each and then taste each after a day of steeping. Anything that doesn't work after the first day just leave it on the shelf and come back to it later and try it. Not all the tobacco flavors get help from steeping, but those that do are really nice after sitting awhile.

Have some fun with it!

Thanks. 10-15% makes more sense to me since I like flavorful juices too.

Am going to try an experiment with couple of no nic batches tomorrow night that will hopefully result in a nic mixture as well. I usually make no nic tests at 5ml to start, since i have arthritis and it is difficult for me to navigate the 3ml bottles with the syringes and pipettes. I have a lot of bottles:)

If I like the taste of either flavoring I might make 2 bottles of them, one to vape within 24 hours the other to steep and see the difference.
