What exactly makes a hybrid a hybrid? Is it the tobacco mixed with say, fruits or something and allowed to "cure" before extracting? Or is that how aromatics are made? I am working my way through this thread still, and haven't gotten to this discussion yet!

Thanks

This threads only 13 pages, shouldn't take to long to get through :) (I'm guessing you're refering to the NT thread).

Many uses of the word hybrid in the ecig world. Here I was refering to SC being just tobacco, and hybrid being a fruit or other flavor and tobacco combonation. So Peachy Criminal would be a hybrid. I use that term whether the flavor is infused with the tobacco before extraction or if the flavor is added after.

One area my collection lacks is fruit/tobacco hybrids. Gonna get a bunch of them next time around, really craving those.

Thanks Jerms! You're right, I mistekenly thought I was in the NT thread! Need to do some research, doing my own extractions now, and want to use "proper" terminology, if there is such a thing!

Lol, I don't think there's much total agreement on terminology in all the vape-iverse. Making your own extractions though I'm guessing has it's own list of technical geek-speak. Are you going to start with straight-up tobaccos or some flavored Cavendish? I'm guessing to make, for example, a tobac/banana hybrid, you could first extract tobacco and then add banana flavoring, or use a banana flavored Cavendish for the extraction.

I'm using three different kind of tobaccos (one is a black cavendish actually) "curing" or whatever the term would be with fresh coconut, then will try 2 different extractions with pg, slow cooker method ala Scarf-Ace and slow steep, just sitting in the pg for maybe a month. So six pseudo experiments in the works to compare.

After I decide which of these works better, I will do a side by side with an alchohol extraction, ever clear is the plan for one, plus a whiskey for a flavored alcohol, again just to see what happens.

I am also doing some other fruit and other flavor infusion extractions down the road over the next few weeks. Should have some preliminary results in a few weeks, but the slow steep method won't be done for about a month I guess for final results.

Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something. :)

Lol, technically it can be used that way, since hybrid can be used in any situation more than one element is mixed. So tobacco blends would be a hybrid of tobaccos. I haven't seen it used to describe tobacco blends though, partly because most NETs (and cigs, pipe tobacco, and cigars) are made of using more than one type of tobacco.

That sounds like a fascinating experiment. Is there any way that I could participate in the evaluations?

Absoulutely you guys, anyone that wants to try these, after I approve them as at least vapeable, is welcome, while supplies last! When I start to have some juices, I'll even find out what nic and ratio content you guys want and mix yours up the way you prefer! I can do mostly VG even, probably up to 75 or 80%, as for these first batches I am doing PG extractions. Pure VG will be down the road as well, after the alcohol.

FYI, the black cavendish coconut-cured tobacco extract is the one I'm hoping, and expecting, to turn out the best, for my taste. This tobacco looks, and smells wonderful.

I can say definitively that Black Cavendish is excellent to use in home-cooked extraction, and also takes very nicely to flavorings.

Family together, good food, Shadowfax and A Super Bowl Championship ! WooWoo !
CT, I wish I could offer my tastebuds, but I have to stay lower percentage on PG. Good Luck with the extractions, hope you someday become the next Wlad or next Adam/ Heather !

Me too! ;)

Like I said, I am going to do 100% VG extractions, don't know how it will go, may have to do alcohol then VG but we'll see I'll let you know what's in the works and whats available (if ANYTHING I do is vapeable that is!) when it comes time.

from the Category Groups section of The Big RY4 List:

RY4s with Stronger Tobacco
Vapor4Life Jammin

...The BOMB! I'm not a huge fan of tobacco flavored juices. Tried a few(BWB Maple tobacco, BWB menthol tobacco, VR Kentucky Blend #7, V4L 555) and hated them all! Was skeptical about trying any others, but Jammin has a ton of reviews, 99% positive, so I gave it a try. Low and behold, it has become a tie with my all time favorite juice! Upon first try, I tasted a strong tobacco base. It grew on me and that taste all but disappeared and I was left with a heavenly blend of vanilla, carmel and cotten candy that is ever so sweet, but not overly. Only problem is V4L is discontinuing their USA line of juices, of which Jammin, is a part:( I am freaking out cuz I have no idea if I'll ever find a close substitute!! Hint, hint....if anyone has experience with this juice and has found suitable alternative, PLEASE PM me:)

I used to adore the little Cojimar cigarillos - vanilla, mango, passion-fruit *swoon*! ECBlends makes a lovely Cuban tobacco juice which so reminds me of those little cigarillos. Cuban Gold - eLiquid Flavor - ECBlend

Now I order the Cuban from ECB with Vanilla sometimes and other times with mango and passion-fruit shots. YUMMO!
Not to mention that their RY4, DXF + vanilla and caramel is my AVD :)

That sounds interesting. If ECB allows you to be that creative with your flavorings, then I might have to add them to my 'to-do' list. Just one question- Does ECB allow you to select PG/VG Ratios ?

Absolutely! You get to choose your blend, nicotine strength, and flavor strength. I find that most everything is best with extra flavor and do allow at least one week steeping after it gets to you, tho longer steeping is always better.
