OK, I've been vaping exclusively since last December. Got me off a 40 year 2PAD habit.
Here's my problem. So far, I have had allergic reactions to the custard and citrus flavorings in e-liquids.
Sometimes it's easy to avoid the juices to which I react because the product description mentions something about the flavoring, or the name of the juice itself does.
Where I run into problems is when the name of the juice does not indicate anything about what's in it, and the manufacturers (understandably) don't want to disclose the details of their recipes.
I have resigned myself to avoiding all "creamy, custardy, citrusy" juices to be on the safe side, which means that there are a lot of juices that I cannot use.
I have been unable to find out the chemical names of the flavorings to which I react, which might make it easier for me to determine if a juice is safe for me to use.
Luckily, my reaction is not life-threatening: just an itchy tongue, palate, sinuses if I exhale through my nose, and my tongue feeling "scalded" for a couple of days afterwards. I luckily react fast enough that I do not inhale that vapor.
Oddly, artificially flavoured citrus candies do not bother me, so whatever is used in e-juice is different or perhaps in a lower concentration.
I have also reacted in similar fashion to a few tobacco juices, and having smoked pipes, cigars, and cigarettes over the years without allergic reaction to the actual tobacco, it is definitely a reaction to flavorings.
PG/VG ratios do not make a difference.
I find myself vaping mostly mint and cinnamon juices, with the occasional apple, grape, or berry blend thrown in.
It's a pity as I've tried a few "bakery" or "dessert" juices and the reaction has been "Yum! Oh crud!"
Do any of the DIYers know the actual names of the citrus/custard/cream flavorings used in e-juices? I'd like to broaden my flavor horizons some, but not at the expense of my tongue feeling like it's going to peel for a couple of days.
Thanks in advance,
