Somewhere out there
There are a lot of nicotine reviews and comparisons over in the DIY section.

No need to go back to the beginning of that huge thread, the years old stuff is mostly obsolete, but you may want to start reading from a few months back.

I am going to try adding some unflavored to my flavors that are too strong! Great info here! I'm also interested in the recommendations for non-peppery nic liquid - since all of mine (since I switched to the box mod) seem to be a little on the peppery side.

I've tried increasing/decreasing the watts. I've gone down to 6 mg nicotine. Sometimes the hit is nice and smooth, other times it really hurts my throat.

I thought at first it was the coil - but I just changed this one and after two hits it's a bit on the harsh side.
it's usually the coil that starts to give me that harshness too, but other times it's just me being more sensitive to my 70pg/30 vg 24 mg Nic (I mouth to lung hit in a GS air or naughty mini), so I alternate with a milder high vg or 50/50 at 18 mg and that helps. That was a pretty long sentence there, wasn't it.

I vape unflavored exclusively, 50/50 pg/vg 18mg in a Nautilus mini with an Istick 30 @10-13w. I don't really get any sweet taste at all but once I took a hit and was shocked to get the most vile, sweetest taste ever. I looked down at my settings and it somehow got bumped up to 22w. I couldn't believe the difference in flavor so I imagine there's a great variation in how "unflavored" tastes depending on pg/vg ratio, nic level and the temperature you vape at.

I like DIY unflavored rather than buying premixed unflavored not only for the massive savings I get but for the ability to change up pg/vg ratio and nic level to suit me.

:) I got some unflavored juice today and I love it! I am going to experiment with all my different juices and try it alone. So far, it does help reduce the tummy ache some of the sweet flavors were giving me.

I got a very low nic level @ 3mg - but I am mixing with 18mg flavored juice - still seeking the level that is just right for me.

I paid way too much for it, so I am going to find one of the recommended online stores and go that route next time.

Thanks!:thumb:

I have been vaping the "hint of flavor" way for a couple of months, using really just a hint of DKS Vanilla, a lovely flavor. Now with all the discussions about flavoring (and no declaration from DKS), I changed to unflavored a couple of days ago. After being used to the "hint of flavor" method, it was not a problem - as opposed to a first testing of unflavored a long time ago, before changing to "hint of flavor". At that time, I did not like flavorless, maybe the contrast was too strong.

I have always been irritated by gunk and frequently changed the cotton. With flavorless base, cotton and coil are white resp. clean. So flavors react to temperature and build stuff in the wick/on the coil differently than the base itself. Even if the flavor itself is colorless, it builds gunk.

That's great let me know how it works out for you. What do you vape with? I use a GS Air tank or nautilus mini on two istick30w usually 8 to 9w, 70pg/30vg to 50/50, 18 to 24 mg Nic. Mouth to lung hits, not a cloud chasing subohm type. I'm going to order some unflavored Nic bases today from maybe two sources to see how they compare :)

I can relate, I don't build coils and have to replace with a new coil every few days for most juices, especially NETs. I want to try some unflavored in one of my tanks and alternate with another tank with Net or other flavored juice.

So far so good - still getting some of the peppery hits that hurt my throat - but not consistently - so it's hard to understand why some are smooth and some are not from the same juice, etc.

I am using the Kangertech subox mini, 2.0 V , .05 ohm coil (all the had at the shop), right around 8 watts. I have a variety of juices I have purchased, from menthol tobacco to vanilla - and now enjoying them much more with the added unflavored. The nic levels are 3 to 18 mgs. I'm not sure what I end up with - since I do a lot of mixing.

Let me know if you have some tried and true suppliers - I need to get away from the shop I go to - as much as I like to support local small business - they are just too expensive.

oh, And I go back and forth on the hits - trying different air flow to get mouth to lung and sometime lung hits - looking for the smoothest result. I am not a cloud chaser either. Tho, I do like some vapor :) I guess it reminds me of analogs and the smoke - so it feels natural (sadly, I smoked for a long time)

:)
