Hey guys. Been vaping for about a month and a half and love it! So glad I switched but I'm having an issue with it. I just ordered some different flavors for the cig and its very hard for me to distinguish between flavors. A few weeks ago, I could tell a large difference between my chocolate, cappaccino, and menthol, but now I smoke about 7 different liquids and can't hardly tell the difference. I have been using the same atty since I started and have not done much maintanence on it, do you think my problem is the atty? Sometimes I get a burnt taste as well, even when I have just filled the carts.

Also, any way to get rid of the metallic taste when you first break open an atty? Thx for the advice!

Blow out the atty, make sure you get all of the liquid out. It takes a while. See if that helps. If it doesn't, then soak it in PGA for a few hours, take it out, blow all the PGA out and let it dry. Re-prime with some liquid, and vape. That normally does the trick for me.

This will also work on getting the primer taste out of a new atty as well.

I do have a second atty that came with my starter kit, I'm just not looking forward to the metallic taste for the first couple days while I break it in. I've heard you can drop the atty in some vodka to clean, is that ok? I'm a college kid so we have alot of that in the house lol, would be the easiest thing for me.

PGA?

Hi suprachica,

Imagine a drinking glass filled with apple juice.
You drink all but an ounce of the juice and then fill it with grapefruit juice.
You drink all but an ounce of that then fill it with beer.
You drink all but an ounce of that then fill it with milk.
You drink all but an ounce of that and what do you have left?

I'm not drinking it! lol

Same idea when it comes to your atty.
Different attys for different flavors works best but can get expensive.
Rinsing the atty in warm water and drying, will get rid of most of the previous fluid but some flavors can be persistent.
Be sure to add 3 or 4 drops of the new flavor directly on the bridge to reprime the atty again.

And don't forget your carts (unless your dripping), they will blend the flavors too, so either rinse and dry or pop on a fresh blank for each flavor.

Burnt taste is usally a good indication that you're letting the atty get too dry, keep it wet but don't flood it.

Does that help?

That helps a ton, thank you. I have 1 cartridge per flavor except for menthol, which I have 2 carts of. I make sure what is in each and if I want to do a new flavor, I remove the old filling, clean out the inner cart with a q-tip and put in a new piece of filler so there's no overlapping of flavors. Diff. atty's for diff flavors is a really good idea, I didn't even think of that but you are correct, that would get expensive. I keep my cig together at all times too and carry it in my pocket so there's always some cart touching the atty, not sure if thats bad or not..

80 proof vodka will work. Find a small glass that you can lay your atty on it's side in, and fill it until it covers the atty. They wont have to soak long. If you have an 801 or a penstyle where you can trap some alcohol inside of the atty tube, you can shake the alcohol inside to speed up the process.

I have some pretty horrible gas tasting scotch that is like 100 proof would that work??

I think I answered my own question I did a double soak blow on on all my atties, UGH! I am grossed out now! strings of ick floating in my scotch, the attiys at least blow and draw easy,, I think since my head is swimming from blowing out 8 attys.
