I too would like to hear about their tobacco flavors. I have no clue what they are about because I've always bought juice pre-mixed. I'd like to have a mild slightly sweet tobacco flavor with just a tad of Turkish. I never dabbled with sampling different varieties of tobacco when I smoked. I had one brand and stuck with it. I want something that is good to stand alone or use as a base for other flavors. I tend to like tobacco blended with things rather than straight dessert and fruits on their own. Adding a tobacco flavor just seems to give a juice more body and complexity.

I tried a lot of their tobacco flavors. Here'e my opinion of them (YMMV):

oRYental 4 is pretty good - nice and sweet with a very slight caramel flavor. I mix it at 2%.
Dark Vapure is decent, strong tobacco flavor. (1%)
The Perique Black is excellent. Strong tobacco flavor with something I can't quite place. By far this is my favorite tobacco. (1%)
Camtel Ultimate is an OK tobacco with slight floral notes. (2%)
Royal - doesn't really taste like tobacco to me. It is sweet and smooth. (2%)
Latakia (2%) and 7 Leaves (1.5%) - light, smooth tobacco.
Desert Ship (2%), Maxboro(2%) and Cowboy Blend (2%) -all of these taste like perfume.

It would be interesting to see what other people are mixing these at and what they think of them.

Well I got my Flavour Art flavors, and they are strong! I mixed too much flavor in so have to go add more base to cut it. I think I will like them once they set awhile. Camtel I think is the most tobacco-y tasting, does have a slight floral note, Virginia I am getting a real strong hay taste, so need to cut that more, ORYental4 is pretty good, I taste some ginger maybe in there too. But basically I mixed them all way too strong so will see how they are when cut and steeped. I put some in my cartos and they were too strong so added vanilla and caramel to them all and that helped :) The Virginia needs something to cut that hay taste! LOL bnrk

Well my FA flavors of Camtel, Virginia and oRYental4 have steeped for a week now. I had to add double the base I started with as they where way too strong. Right now I really like oRYental4, it is a RY4 with just a hint of a spice or ginger. I found myself vaping it alot today. Camtel is most like a cig taste, dry and tobacco taste without any sweetness for me. I like it pretty well. Definitely works if I get a strong urge for an analog. The Virginia, well this is very much a grass/hay taste for me. I had some Virginia ejuice I bought somewhere, can't remember where, that was weak and sort of cured caramely taste I like, I added 4 drops of FA Virginia to it, that I like :) Smooth and mild but not too strong on hay taste. I have some straight left I need to cut more but I think I may have to add caramel to it for me to like.

Anyway I recommend FA to try when looking for DIY tobacco flavors, they do resemble a real cig tobacco more than I have found elsewhere. bnrk

Just made an RY4ish batch using about 5% Maxboro, 5% TPA Caramel and 2% French Vanilla plus a drop of FA wild nuts. The Maxboro may be a bit strong at 5% but it has a sweetish, slightly nutty tobacco flavor. Can't say it has any floral or perfume notes to my tastes. A pretty nice vape at Zero% nic. Rather pleased with it.

Also added a few drops of Maxboro to an apple pie mix I made and it added some really tasty tobacco notes.

I plan on trying some more mixes with this but I am personally liking the FA Maxboro so far.

I am really liking Camtel now that it steeped awhile. Nice dry tobacco taste, and oRYental4 is one of Faves now, love it! These FA flavors have to steep and I am mixing mine really weak, I started at 20% yikes! Now I am at around 1-5% and like them so much better :) The Virginia I am still working with, I will get it! bnrk

Any of you adding bitter wizard in your tobacco blends? Do you ever? Would you suggest it?

Only if I think it needs it, but that is the only time I would. Sometimes it is a touch of imitation vanilla though that puts a dot below the ! Sometimes a couple drops of Burley in a 15ml tobacco flavor blend will put that dot on.

Or, more simply, Play With It Boodle! It doesn't become fun until you play with it. Tobacco blends are the some of the most challanging to get just right, but oh-so-nice when you've fiddled that thing into perfection. Sometimes the thing that really makes it work is unexpected. (Except cinnamon, I've never had it be that "thing" even though sometimes I still think it will add that missing note. Why is it never cinnamon?)

Generally, I don't use Bitter Wizard or any of the other flavor enhancers... Have nothing against using them however. Tried a couple of times and didn't knock my socks off. For whatever reason, I have managed to hit a decent balance using just flavorings alone. My favorite flavor additives are TPA Apple, French Vanilla or FA Caramel. Apple is my go-to additive by far. It is not too sweet and really makes my tobacco mixes stand up and bark! Adds a nice tartness too. FA Apple Pie is also nice with tobacco. Vanilla or caramel tend to smooth out the juice and adds a little sweetness. If I think a mix needs a bit "extra", I use any one of the FA nut flavors. Wild Nuts, Mixed Nuts, Walnut or Almond. Tones down the sweetness to me and adds a nice touch. These are all just my .02 of course.

Sometimes my mixes are a spectacular FAIL and nothing will fix them! Thats all part of the fun.:?:

Awe man! This thread has put me over the edge. I've been seriously thinking, and reading a bit, about DIY. I only vape tobaccos and you folks have given me a good start!

I was hooked on FSUSAs Pall Mall for the longest time. Liked American Spirit (already mentioned above) and liked their purecig too.

For the last few months I've been hooked on Vapor Station's Tampa and sometimes Texas and Frisco.

Any suggestions for where I should start? What flavors? Known recipes?

Although I'm about 100% VS now, its not because I don't like the FSUSA juices, its mainly because they're clear and easier on cartos.
