Flavour inconsistencies in different nic levels

This is probably a newbie question but strangely enough I couldn't find any threads about it.

I had ordered a 5 bottle multi pack from totallywicked, of which 1 bottle Marlboro 36mg. The 36mg was on backorder so I only received the 11 and 18mg Marlboro a couple of weeks ago. Today I got the 36mg and to my big surprise it tastes quite different than the 11 and 18. The latter two are basically the same in flavour. It also smells totally different from the bottle. It has a tiny hint of stale ash tray to it.

Is that normal also in other brands? I know that in industrial processes you have batches of the same product with slight differences but not that different. Is the recipe changed that drastically for higher nic levels? Shame really as I like the 18mg flavour.

cheers

Cheers for the replies, mates.

Strange. AFAIR from my bio chemistry class, alkaloids don't have any distinct flavour. They just have a bitter taste on the tongue, as you mention, but no distinctive smell at room temperature.

Don't get me wrong here, not trying to be pompous but bitter just like salty, sweet or sour are actually our only true taste senses on the tongue. All other flavours that we can identify as distinct are actually smelled.

As for the 36mg juice I can't really smell 'bitter' but something else that's utterly different from the lower nic ones. A bit sickly sweet and burnt at the same time, like one of those weirdly flavoured vanilla coffees (which I can't stand unfortunately). It's as if it was a different brand of juice altogether.

No biggie anyway. I suppose I'll get back with them and ask if they still carry the same 18mg juice that I have. That one really tastes a bit like my bad ole cancer sticks... Not that I'm missing them though... ;)

Nicotine isn't flavorless, so higher-nic juice will either have a somewhat bitter taste or will be flavored somewhat differently to compensate (which will still make it taste different than lower-nic juice).
That's exactly correct. Which has always made me wonder, how do they mask the nicotine flavor in flavorless liquid?

lol... nice one :D

So I bounce the question back - what exactly does pure nicotine taste like? OK, bitter. But with what flavour? Grapefruit, aspirin, burnt food, bile? :D
These are the things that make us go hmmmmm...

Bile sounds closest. If I had a high nic E9 vanilla cartridge I could taste that and answer, the low nic have a great vanilla taste, but in the high strengths, nicotine is all you taste. I don't have any liquid offhand that has that clear a nicotine taste to try.

totally wicked has had mislabeling problems. I got 3 mislabeled orders in a row, it's been 1 1/2 months and i still don't have my orders correct. If the juice you got from TW is bright orange you got the wrong stuff.
Cheers for the info mate.
That could be it I suppose. My 36mg juice smells like extra strong roasted vanilla coffee with a ton of syrup or something like that but definitely not Marlboro.

Never mind, I'll live ;)

the flavorless VG juice i have from eliquidplanet i think? has a very slight bitter/nutty flavor to it. I don't know if it's possible to hide it completely.

though i have not tried the new TW "crystal" 48mg flavorless mixing liquid , that is supposedly the most "pure" nic juice you can buy
