Well after reading raidy's thread I had to try this. Finally got most of the parts in, enough to do some trial runs. I'd like to do something similar to this setup but smaller inside of a box mod, maybe a Grip. I tired a few different parts than I've seen used some with positive results some not. I used ceramic insulators as a cup for the mesh to go through the cap. I think ID is a bit too small, I had to really force the wick through and as a result I don't think the wick can keep up with the kanthar. I tried both 400 and 325 mesh. I used some telecom push connectors for the kanthar. They worked really good, next round I'll position them a bit differently though. I used some JB Weld clear epoxy, it's coming loose from the cap because of the juice. In fairness though I didn't let it cure the 3-4 hrs called for. I couldn't resist. Here are some pics:

Here's a closer view of the push connectors and the rest:

A pic of the ceramic beads, push connector before/after, and connectors cut and soldered for next go:

An action shot, most of the juice vaped already and getting dry, the coils glowing with 7 wraps. I wasn't quick enough to get it one handed at the beginning but it looks like a steam engine before it outruns the wick.

I'm gonna try to make a smaller OD wick for this setup and do another cap with a bigger ID sleeve in it. I tried everything from 2 to 7 coils the wire is 32 gauge btw. Less than 6 wraps as soon as it started to glow the protection on the battery would cut it off!? Maybe shorting I'm not sure my meter said 3 ohms through the circuit with only 3 wraps. I don't think my meter was up to the task. Might need to oxidise better too but it seemed to be alright. Lots of toothpicking too. I'll keep at it though, nothing seemed insurrmountable.

peace.

I got them from one of the IT guys at work. Here are the exact ones I'm using:
ALLEN TEL GB110-C4 QTY: 10PCS CIRCUIT ASSORY - eBay (item 360359538074 end time Jul-12-11 11:32:20 PDT)
Each piece has 8 of the connectors in them. If you just need a few PM me your info and I'll send you a couple. 16 connectors should be enough to get you going. These particular ones come apart fairly easy, get the black piece off and the connectors drop out, most of the other ones I messed with are molded and you have to figure out how to get all of the plastic out of the picture. I gave up on them pretty quick.

Thanks, I'll triple check the oxidising to be sure I get it right. I got the ceramic idea from you guys, trouble I'm having is ID is a bit too small I think. Once I get the connectors repositioned I hope to be able to wrap the coils tighter. I'm open for any and all pointers. I'll be looking back over the other threads too, tons of info in them.
