If you are bringing an APV with replaceable batteries I'd put the spares in a battery case of some type and in your checked baggage, leaving just the one battery in the device you are bringing with you.

Sent from Poolside @ Tahiti Village Resort, Las Vegas. :)

Ummmm no. According to DOT regulations you aren't supposed to put Li-Ion batteries in checked luggage. Put them in cases and carry them on.

Here are my rules for air travel.

  • Cherished mods get checked. You never know when a TSA agent is going to be overzealous. Carry on an ego or two. They are cheap and easily replaced.
  • Li-Ion batteries need to be in plastic cases and carried on.
  • Carry on juice is just like any other liquid and needs to be out in the open. Hand labeled DIY isn't a problem in 6 ml bottles.
  • The bulk of your juice should be checked. Wrap it in paper towels and put it in a ziploc bag. The reduction in air pressure can make it seep a bit. The same holds true for drives through mountainous areas BTW.
  • I've never had a problem vaping in an airport but, if you can't do it comfortably minding your own business, don't. Don't use anything that looks like a cigarette either.
  • It's against DOT regulations to vape on the plane. If you're discrete and hold it in a bit to kill the vapor, you probably won't have a problem doing it. I never have but, if you choose to do it, it's on you.

The only incident I've had doing this is one time while I was going through security the woman at the x-ray held up my ego and asked what it was. I told her an e-cigarette. She nodded and put it back in the bin.

If you have the cash and want to be really squared away send a spare pack to the hotel concierge first--in case :)

Or order up a back up pack from a good US vendor say 3-4 days out and have it sent over to your hotel and notify the concierge to expect it... If you're spending a ton on air tickets and hotels, a $30 back up could mean the difference between a great trip or a disaster...

Or post for a brick and mortar place in Vegas or note the places that will express things over next day.

A 1100 Ego, charger and some juices/cartos from Tom (he ships fast) waiting for you at the hotel could be a trip saving investment... For like $30

Be prepared!
