Ok, I'll try to explain it to you.

How would you like to come up with a really cool atomizer, pour your life savings into having a few thousand of them manufactured to the highest standards, using the best materials and providing jobs to your fellow countrymen and then wake up to find out some Chinese company bought ONE of your products, copied it and is now selling it for $9.99? And, to make matters worse, they aren't paying you one red cent of royalty while your loan payment is still due every month. Then, you log on to ECF to find some guy asking, "why would I buy some over-priced authentic? Lol! What are they going give me for that extra money?" ¡FACEPALM!

Well, YOU asked.

I've got lots of respect for the original products coming out of China. No doubt, they have done a lot for vaping. HOWEVER, this "clone" business really disturbs me. Somebody coined that term because "counterfeit" and "patent theft" just didn't sound right in a product description.

I would opt to buy authentic first but the problem I find with the things that I want authentic is availability. Take the zero mod clone for example. I lust for that and have no problem paying the original $400 asking price but not the current 1k that I hear it is going for let alone the few year wait time so clone it is for me. The zero is not alone in this situation.

I find authentic availability to be scarce when a mod comes out. Hell I had to call 5 shops before I found one that could get me an authentic kayfun, and I had to wait 2 days for them to go pick it up from wherever they pick stuff up at.

I'm sure there are some authentics that are readily available but never the ones I'm interested in. I'm eyeing the SMPL right now and don't know where to get one in stock. I dunno!

Don't tell Nikki or Nailz, but I tend to like simple functional designs too. That doesn't mean I don't also like sexy and elegant, but it doesn't have to be one or the other. It just can't be fugly or gaudy.

There is place for simplicity .. If Cloupor would have made it in a very metallic gun metal or something, that would have jazzed it up a bit. But everything doesn't need to be a looker I suppose .. I am just biased towards devices that make me want to look at them all day

Triple bypass? I kind of missed that part ... Dear, the only thing you should be doing after that is resting. The vapeporn can wait, just focus on recovering and taking good care of yourself after.

I'm with you. I tend to like functional over fashion. Probably why I like the Vaporsharks so much.

In my haste to order the copper Slug this morning I completely missed the Dimitri clone. I have a dual 18650 unregulated box inbound but I may have to add the Dimitri. I was tempted by the Dovpo GX-200 but I'm pretty sure I like the Dimitri better. Full mechanical switch is nice.

As far as regulated mods go, these are my requirements these days:

Adjustable 510
Comfortable fire button
Replaceable battery(s) so I don't have to wait for it to charge.

I don't mind having some cheap and plain things because I use them when I'm running errands and going to other peoples' homes. That Sig mini would fit the bill. My Zero and Reos stay at home. I do have a bright orange Reo! And the pretty Zero. I think my Stingray X and black copper Stingray are sexy. My authentic SqR isn't leaving the house either, lol!
