FC dropped the Coil Master this morning in the US warehouse. I'm super tempted to snag one but I have three Kuro "style" coilers coming from the other place but they won't be here for at least another week... and I could have the CM by the end of this week. :glare:

I was going to get the Kuro from Tobeco but I cancelled it when I found out that Kanger Mall sent me the coil master .. While its nice to have 5 different rod sizes in one kit, I don't vary my coils that much so I might just pick up the the 2mm Kuro too.

I saw those too, can you easily do spaced coils on those or are they made just for tight coils?

Arghh .. you beat me to using it once again :p Actually about to start on the IN'AX Nano today  And I thought USPS was off the holiday today?

lol... well, I don't have 8773 reviews in my queue.

USPS is off for residential delivery and retail services. My employer is able to pick up mail from the central PO here, postal holiday or not. We actually have our own zip code, lol.

yihiiiiiie! (or yihiiiiiia! or yihiiiiii!)
thank you very much, my ángeles de la guarda (Nikki and Jieyan) :***

received my new one (identical to the previous one, it's the same batch). took some fast pics:

note the washer between the sxmini and the atty. i don't dare even to push the 510 spring, lol; will locate and use washers.

my previous one: fixed 510 with the 7.2 x 1.6mm red o-ring replacing the broken gasket, no spring. it's a bit deep, but perfect for longer 510 atties.

I pretty much only use 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 which are the Kuro sizes FT is selling. All three for like $6.82. Not too shabby. The Coil Master from FC would be largely superfluous but I could have it a lot sooner! I'm not very good about waiting for stuff.

I think I want that one. I have such a weird variety of RBAs. All the way from the tiny Divo and Eviva-t coils up to the monsters I run in the SquapeRs and one of my vertical Rose builds.

The one bummer I found out about the coil master is the way the mandrels attach to the handle/cap thing. I'd have to take the coil off, slide the mandrel out, then put the coil back on (I like my coils on the mandrel when mounting them). That would be a drag. :( And it would be limited to the mandrels that it comes with (sometimes I like screws).

I heard that the Kuro has the advantage of the mandrels being attached by grub screws that you can easily replace with thumb ones. Then you could possibly put other types of rods in there, like the ones that come with the Marquis (probably not screws though).

I thought about buying one of those, but I wrap like 6 coils a month, if that (I dry burn and rewick the hell out of them though). Do I really need another tool for that? So I decided to stay ghetto with my cheapo little red matchbox-looking one.

I wrap everything on a broken 5/64ths drill bit. I really have no reason to order any coiling apparatus. I suppose if you are having issues getting your wraps tight it could help

I wrap on precision screwdrivers with excellent results. But, anything which makes like easier at a nominal cost is good with me. The Kuros and Coil Masters also make perfect parallels. I can "freehand" parallels but they are never perfect.

I was getting a few dry hits with the microcoil build but not a single one on the spiral coil, but I think it has a little to do using a tiny bit less cotton in the channels (but I also have more cotton through the coil).

I just learned an easy way to make perfectly spaced spiral coils. Make a parallel coil with the same number of wraps that you want for your single coil then just "unscrew" the two wires while they're still on the rod or drill bit. You should end up with 2 spiral coils spaced about a wire width apart. If one looks better than the other just use the best of the 2. Also, don't "bend" a single wire to make parallels. Cut 2 wires and hold them with the curve going the same way. Makes much better coils and allows for separating the two coils. I hope this helps.

I love wrapping spaced coils on screws. That's when the little gadget really comes in handy - the screws that I use are too short to grab onto for tension. Then you can get it crazy tight and just unscrew the screw from the coil after it's all mounted. The only atty I can't do that with is, of course, the SqR, the one atty that I use every day (wants a coil in reverse).

:grr: I'm not getting my answer from the FT thread. Seems that all they wanna do is whine about shipping.

So let me try my question here:
Does anybody have an Origen V2? Weezy, maybe?

Can you measure the top lip for me, where the drip tip goes? Wanna order a matching drip tip that will line up, or at least won't overhang. I'm ordering the one with the brass ring. thx

Ah, then for the reverse coils you need to find left hand threaded screws. Not real popular but they are out there.

Sorry, never tried the Origen.

Yup. Permanently left that thread ages ago because of the whining. I get enough of that from my 2 and 5 yr old

I lasted 2 visits before I was done with the FT thread. Even though I don't post here often, the people keep me coming back. They're usually very helpful and always a pleasure to talk to. Definitely a cut above.
