I have not seen this addressed anywhere and was curious. I am allergic to floral, such as jasmine, nutmeg, and nuts. So far I have avoided juice that might contain those things. I am wondering if the flavoring version of these foods would produce the same effect as the food itself? And if I ever had an issue like that if the vendor would disclose the additives in that situation (much like a restaurant would do in that situation).

Hi SusieQ. My guess (and this is ONLY a guess) is that the flavoring would not have the same effect. However, if you're allergic, I would make sure before trying to inhale some of these flavors.
Regarding the vendor disclosing the additives, I would think they would. Just send the vendor an email and ask.
PS. Your avatar looks like it just got that dreaded drop of juice in it's mouth. :)

Lol. I haven't had any issues yet.... But it's those "other added ingredients" that concern me. For now I stay away from complex mixes that may have that potential. And I would also like to think they would be open to sharing the ingredients for that reason.

Given that I recently read on the DIY board that a component of raspberry flavoring comes from beaver parts (!), I'm not sure that you (or even the vendor) can know truly all the constituents in each of the flavorings they use. The exception to this would be companies that extract their own flavorings, and I feel certain they would disclose any of the extracts/ingredients to you if you explain your situation.

Trying to put that whole raspberry post outta my mind, as that's my favorite flavor. LOL. All the vendors I have bought from so far make their own.

In case I don't do this right the thread was titled Raspberry flavoring dated 1-31-13.

Thanks. At least they're not lying about it being "Natural Flavoring". Honestly though, it doesn't surprise nor bother me one bit.

I did find this interesting:

Other uses:

Castoreum is also used in small amounts to contribute to the flavor and odor of cigarettes.
