For those of you with a Joye 510 PCC....

I just got one today and it seems pretty cool so far. I was just curious if it is alright to leave a battery in the unit once it has charged. I don't want to damage the battery or shorten its life. If I carry the PCC around with me all day and leave a battery in it is that going to be OK. Also if I vape with my 510 for a few minutes and then put it back in the PCC for storage and to let the battery charge back up to full is that going to hurt the battery becuase I haven't fully depleted it?

There is nothing wrong with leaving a battery in the charging slot all of the time.. and there is absolutely nothing wrong with short-charging one.. or putting one back in to recharge before it is depleted.

It's all good.

Actually Lithium-ion batteries last longer if they are not fully depleted. I unfortunately learned this too late in the game & can't help but wonder how much longer my batteries would last if I applied this theory from the start. Also, the PCC will shut off once the battery has reached a full charge, so if you were at all concerned whether leaving a battery in there would deplete the PCC's battery you don't have to worry. I ought to start bringing only one battery with me instead of bringing numerous & rotating which charge, but I still find myself fully depleting my 510s before charging them.

All true, but it is my undersatnding that thr PCC should not be used as a primary charging device! Doing so will wear out the PCC internal battery prematurely.

If the PCC is plugged into the USB port, then you're not using the PCC battery for the charging process anyway... not really.

The PCC is here to serve me.... not the other way around. I realize that it will last forever if I don't use it at all.... but if using it causes it to "wear out"... well, they're cheap and I certainly am getting my money's worth.

The stock lithium batteries on the 510 have a protection circuit built-in. This prevents the battery from becomming damaged due to the voltage dropping below the safe lower voltage limit. When the circuit is activated it will cut off the battery. The battery when connected to a multimeter will show 0 volts when acutally it is still at more like 2.2 to 2.4 volts. It doesn't harm the batteries to use them until the cutoff is reached.

I agree with the above.

I do also wonder about using the PCC as a charger too often. Batteries can only be charged so many times.

But at $25 its not that big a deal really.

Cut off voltage should be no less than 3v otherwise the battery will become useless. Anyway what battery is inside of PCC? Lion, Lipo, Nicd or NIMH? Thank you in advance

Well I'm psyched about that. Guess I just vape too much, but at least don't have to worry about what I had suspected causing my batts to dies faster than they would've. That must have applied to the more real looking batteries you get for mods. I got that info from a website called something like the battery encyclopedia or something like that & it was under the Li-Ion type whereby fully depleting them caused a significant decrease in their overall longevity, however, with teh auto-cut off factor I imagine such concerns are nullified. Thank you for that, a2d.

If memory serves me correctly the PCC internal battery is a Li Ion.

Also, charging anything whenever you can will help, regardless as it couldn't hurt any. That's why the PCC is the bomb, cuz you can pull it out whenever you need it & put it back in to re-charge/fill up with power when its not in use & as soon as its fully charged it'll turn off thereby preserving the battery in the PCC unit itself. Revolutionizing the 510 since its biggest downfall, in my personal opinion, is short battery life.

I don't agree. Charging them to less than the max voltage will also help and recharging before the minimum cut-off will extend the life of Li-ons.

Look at the dramatic difference in charge cycles at 4.2V vs 4.3V.

The chintzy 10¢ chargers we mostly use could easily be overcharging to 4.3V. This might help explain the wildly varying results folks post with the same make of batteries.
