I can understand your frustration, but with the ECF moderation in place, members aren't subjected to language/posts which would potentially drive away new members. My 15 year old car forum is not regulated as ECF is, and we drive newbies away all the time for minor faults. It becomes a flame-throwing event. How would we be helping new vapers if we chastized them for stupid questions that have been answered a thousand times and can be found with a simple search? My car forum has a "Team PUTSB" (Please Use The Search Bar) who will pile on a newbie for such "infractions".

The world-wide coverage of the ECF community demands that certain conduct be adhered to.

I am not a moderator, so take my perception as a fellow community member.

I like boobs. Alot. I'd like to see them in conversation for entertainment value. The idea is offensive to some, so it is not allowed on ECF. I don't like the rule, but I DO like the community that warrants the rule. I'll stick around. I know where I can find boobs elsewhere. ;)

I'm guessing you mean threads where it's a hot topic and people become rather heated, rather than ones which die a death from stagnation and lack of replies, which eventually retire but are still available to read in the archives?

I'd ask how you would moderate in that former case? Because, at best it would seem to be a thankless task, but the rules are pretty clear. I've fallen foul of them a few times myself, but the good of the many outweighs the greed of the Trunker. Boobs or not.

A civilised place to discuss ideas is one thing, but - and let's be fair here - you and i cursing one another over who builds better coils and which is the best way to vape is hardly a good example of our own self-control, nor informative to new people.

This place has a wider audience than most (all?) domain-specific forums I've been a part of. Given a scale of 1- 10, 10 meaning expert and 1 meaning complete novice, most boards attract people in the 7-10 range, whereas this one covers the whole scale. It's odd to see a post on an audio board from someone who's just got their first stereo - not so odd to see people in their first week of vaping in here.

Given such a diverse population and extremes of competency, it prolly makes sense to moderate actively. Does that result in throwing the baby out with the bath water occasionally and downing some benign threads? Yup. But imagine the alternative.

Erring on the side of caution, IMHO, is better than erring on the side of adding friction, whether it's disrespectful comments, bad advice, or obfuscation of help due to meandering (which, admittedly, is the grayest area).

I'd not leave because of a little thread derailment. Happens all the time because people try their best to contribute, based on their own experiences.

"best cloud chasing coil on a PV for under $75"

Where would you put that thread? general vaping - coil builds - budget vaping - battery safety - new members - simple solutions?

I've added relevant off-topic statements in threads that haven't been closed. Heck, there are some threads I wish wouls cease due to off topic discussion. It's distracting and inhibits fluid discussin. None the less, when I do make an relevant, but off topic statement, I aoplogize.

Unless the flow of discussion has gone there for one reason or another. I can see when it is a distinct jump far from the original topic. But, when its a smooth flow into a related or interdependent topic, let it flow. Did the mod read the thread to see how it got there?

Yes, this place has way too many subs. You could probably reduce it to 1/10th current amount without a hiccup. I can deal with to many subs. Not a big issue.

I'd like to think I have some good thread starting topics ideas that will come to me from time to time.

I will go see if anyone has started a tread on the issue sure but after running though alot of counting,
All the 3 word threads, neverending brainless game threads, etc. I feel like there is always room for
another thread, especially an "E-Vape" thread, already touched on or not. Should I gather my things?
