As you all know I am new to the vaping game, and a sucker for instant gratification. Well I recently purchased a Sense Cyclone. My mod is from Vaporfi - VOX TC (50w), the batteries are 18650 3.7 V, my other mod is the iStick 50W. Well, I managed to get the cyclone working with out leaking and actually getting good draws. I noticed my mod was getting warm so I checked the numbers: .6 resistance 30w pulling 4.7 v. I maybe an idiot, but I know when a battery gets warm and from what I am gathering over extending the charge its a bad thing. The other coil is a .2 resistance 316L. I now know it probably is not safe to run the .6 coil, but should I try the .2 coil or just return everything all together due to my mods not being able handle the tank (Im not tempting fate using the tank on the with the iStick 50w).

Thank you XD

I'm not familiar with the Cyclone, but if like the other Herakles tanks by Sense, would think it is designed to run well over your 50W limit. Also wondering what brand/model of 18650 you are using? If not considering upgrading to a higher watt mod, returning the Cyclone would probably be a good idea, that is, if you can return it after using it.

If a higher resistance coil at .6 ohms is questionable, why would you think a coil at even lower resistance would be safer?
I normally run at .4

What brand?

They are the Vaporfi branded batteries.

I just returned the tank all together. Better safe then sorry.

The 0.6 ohm coil would be just fine on both your mods and can handle significantly more power than either of your mods can produce. The issue is you don't have a strong understanding of how your mods work. First, the "3.7V" from your battery is the nominal voltage (something to Google during your research). Second, you're using a regulated mod, so the voltage from the battery is applied to the board, not the coil. The board, through the use of a boost circuit, is able to apply more voltage to the coil than can be supplied by the battery.

Thank you. I thought it was weird because I normally run at .4 resistance. So then what you are saying is I was over reacting, makes sense in all honesty. The warmness of everything just had me worried a bit.

Buy NAME BRAND Batteries - less risk of issues. rarely $1-$2 difference in price.

Always Verify Mod Specs for Minimum ohm load and Tank specs for operational recommendations.

Minimum the mod runs at is .05 resistance with a high of 2.5. The tank with a .6 resistance recommends a maximum of 150 watts. I was running it at 30-35 watts with my normal range being 30 watts. As for the batteries They where a bit more expensive then what I have been finding on-line. $19.99 for one. The problem I was having was how warm everything was getting. I normally run at a .4 resistance so I thought it was a bit weird a .6 resistance coil at the same wattage was running harder and pulling more volts then my Triton.

Those batteries are garbage. No wonder they got hot. Stop using them to vape before you end up on the evening news.

Buy only quality name brand cells from a legitimate trustworthy supplier.
Dont skimp or be lazy about it.

2500mah and 35amp? VaporFi High-Capacity 35A 2500mah Battery
From what I've found they are rewraped B/C grade Samsung He2's.
Doing the math, the battery was seeing around 7 amps with the .6 coil and around 19 amps with the .2 ohm coil.
If those batteries are getting that hot with that load, I'd discard them and order better batteries from a trusted vendor, RTDvapor comes right to mind!
But from what I've read about that company, and those batteries, I wouldn't use them anymore.

Paying 20 beans for a rebranded battery is worse than paying Income Tax,, sort of..

OP, ignorance is forgivable, not buying a new set of good quality appropriate batteries as advised is not.
I recommend the LG HG2, Samsung 25R or Samsung 30Q bought from a reputable dealer. Not Ebay and not Amazon.

First, stop buying anything from VaporFi, they simply re-brand everything and charge double for putting their name on it. And they are not re-branding high quality equipment to begin with, I could only imagine what low quality batteries they are using. You can get high quality batteries from the vendors listed above with the benefit of knowing exactly what you are getting and what they can handle, in most cases at least, never trust Efest.

Always stick with batteries directly from the manufacturer (sony, LG, panasonic) from a vendor with a trusted history. There are many vendors to get equipment (mods, tanks, ect...) from that don't over-charge, My Vapor Store being one of the top choices, but also VapeNW, Sweet Vapes, Eciggity are my favorites.
